I use an xbox360 control and single sided headset. When games allow, or I'm using 3rd partty VOX, since the 360 control is considered a seperate sound device, I can set it so that VOX comes through the headset and gamesound comes out of my sound system. When it doesn't I just hang it around my neck and just use the mic.

Anyway - point is that I find the 360 control+headset to be a particually versitile piece of equipment. They are pretty cheap now too.

SteelSeries make great headphone/mic combos. If you can, wait for black Friday and splurge on something decent to good as it makes a huge difference. If you can't wait, grab something, then exchange for one when the sales drop

I have a Hyper X headset. Very comfortable for long days in game. Decent tangle free cable with separate mic and headset volume controls on the cable.

For the headsets mic to work there should be 2 cables, 1 for audio and 1 for the mic.
When you did that you should as well remember to disable your current mic.

Maximus, what headset do you have? Better to fix that rather than shell out. Also what operating system?

Finally found out what was wrong with my headset, it was missing an adpater peice. I'm going to either find it or buy a new adapter to get it working

Some PC's will actually read that its a 2 in one connector and its possible to split the signal via a software interface. Depends on the plug. If you have it plugged into the front port, try plugging it into a rear one (on the motherboard).

my headset has two jacks, one for audio and one for the mic. My computer only has one headphone jack, so i need to find the adapter piece or buy a new piece.

adapter pieces are cheaper than a good mic. windows audio is a mess. it took me hella long to find the settings to use.

keep in mind that most headsets come with two cables. i have the arctis 3 and just found out i had the one plug extention lying in a drawer LMAO.

Huh? One goes in the speaker/headphones port (green) and one goes in the mic port (red).
