Thompson Rate of Fire
I saw an older post from june that was asking about some of the weapons rate of fire but havent heard anything lately about it, i was just curious if there are any plans to change the thompsons rate of fire to something more realistic? I know many other games give it a much faster fire rate and i did some research and watched quite a few youtubers shooting actual thompsons and it seems that the fire rate in real life is noticeably faster than it is ingame.

Right now it shoots more like an mp40. Is it purposely done that way because of balance? Are there any plans to speed it up? Other than that i feel the other weapons in the game are done really well as far as sounds and rate of fire, but it disappoints me whenever i use the thompson because its just so slow.

I haven't really noticed it be that much different. IIRC the charging handle on the Thompsons in game is on the top of the gun, meaning that its a M1928, so firing rate should be about 600rpm or so. A MP40 fire rate is about 550rpm or so, so they should be pretty similar. The faster firing Thompsons (M1A1) has the charging handle on the side and would fire around 700-750rpm

Haha ... I'd prefer the fire selector (semi-auto) instead of more RoF. This gun is very accurate in the middle range when you use single fire or double tapping technique.

So when are Devs going to fix the Thompsons rate of fire?

Normandy was used:
Thompsons (M1A1) 700-750rpm.

The Thompson ingame is to slow.

Could it be that the Browning is too slow as well? Compared to the MG42 from germans
it feels like a WW1 rifle... But im not a specialist in any means.

eeehhh. M1A1 production wasn't really full scale until 1943, meaning that even in 1944 the M1928 would still have been the more common gun to encounter. If you really wanted to push it, maybe have the commander get the M1A1 and give the M1928 to other classes that get a smg.

Much like the Thompson, the BAR IS a WWI gun. The USA entered WWII entirely unprepaired. The states didn't really have a 'WWII' weapon (other then the M1 Garand) until the M3 in 1945. The BAR entered production in 1917- right at the tail end of WWI. Its fire rate is evident of this - its envisioned usage was to be used in 'walking fire' - the idea was that during a large infantry assault (WWI style) BAR operators would advance firing from the hip - the lower ROF was to increase controlibility..

Compare this to the MG38 and MG42 - they were designed after WWI with the idea being a 'universal machine gun' - A gun that could be replace the multitudes of different mgs in different roles. Add a spiderweb sight - its a AA gun. Remove the shoulder stock - its a vehicle gun. Place it on its hightech stand - its a mounted HMG. Use the shoulder stock and assault drum - its an infantry weapon.

The Thompsons (M1A1) sounds infact like a BAR , not a expert but what i see on you tube is the rate of fire in the real deal is absolutly higher .

But it is doing his job in the trenches , cleaning buildings etc

M1A1 is not the fast firing version of the Thompson it only had 655 RPM. I don't know where you guys get your informations from but the military m1a1 had a much shorter rate of fire for more controllability. The military mass production had to be cheap back these days so the m1a1 is basically the cheapened and slaughtered result of the original Thompson.

Compared to the previous alpha version, it is really slower, it's like they adjusted the rate of fire to the mp40 to maybe balance it out.

M1A1 is slightly faster than the MP40 so as far as that goes it's somewhat realistic. Honestly to me the m1a1 feels okay, but I did not measure the rpm and if it matches 655 rpm. If it's really too slow then it should be adjusted slightly. Personally I believe it's rather the sound than the rpm that causes some confusion here...
