Multiplayer requirements?
For the past weeks that I played this game, I only got one instance where I got summoned to another player's game. I was wondering whether there are certain restrictions in the game that prevents me from joining other people's games (ex. level, weapon level, area already cleared, etc.)

Do you guys have any idea? I also took into consideration that my region (Asia) may not have a lot of players despite setting matchmaking region to "No restrictions"

There are 3 Summoning Areas as far as I know. Depths, Tower of Trials and Story.
To be summond in the Story you need to have the area unlocked. So the best way to get summons is to go to the final boss and then look for distress signals there.
Depths should work as long as you have the depth maps unlocked.
Same with Tower of Trials.

As far as I know you need to be in the same area to get summond/have the same progression.

There's no other limitations similar to the Souls games like levels? I did saw at some articles (can't remember if it's from Bandai Namco's site itself) that levels don't matter since the person being brought into the world will have their level scale to the host.

1) You need to have the area unlocked.

2) You need to be in a specific area, eg. tower of trials, depth maps or the story.

3) Signal search is limited by the region you preferred, so setting region preferences as no restriction is the best way to find/get signals.

4) For the love of god use offering gifts, if the host dies it will end the session for both of you.

If you are wondering if the reason why you can't receive any signals is because of your weapon/levels no it's not. There are only around 800~1200 players playing, and most of them prefer to do it solo. Levels and weapons don't matter, your level will be scaled to the host's level, and you should know that you need to have the area unlocked first. So the best way to find anyone is to reach the final boss first.

Thank you for the response!

Ah such a shame for the low amount of players and their preference for solo play. I was really hyped for the multiplayer much like in dark souls because you can show off your created characters in action.

Perchance Lv 1 run? You're pretty good actually, I'm on my Lv 1 run with that character I'm using and just recently cleared my playthrough. :D

Actually, there is another thing that, I think was confirmed by the devs, you'll have to dig if you want anything beyond my anecdotal experience. It worked for me so I'm not motivated to dig any deeper. Anyway, I read that, bloated data files as a summon can make it difficult to be summoned. What's a "bloated data file"? It's a combination of how many items you have in your inventory, how many emotes you have on your character, and how many gifts are assigned on your blood codes.

Sounds dumb but, I was having the same issue, looked it up, and decreased all that stuff to a minimum. I put away all items save for weapons/veils I was wearing and a few quick slot items. I reduced my emotes to just 3. And I removed all the gifts on every blood code, save for the 2-3 codes I use often. It worked and now I can get summoned.

To be fair, I'm in the USA and I can still have a hard time finding players when there's less than 1000 concurrent players, but it does happen even then. When there's 1500-2000, it's pretty easy to find games. Hope that helps!

I was level 1, yes though not intentional. I had the experience of overlevelling so some areas became easier than expected on my first playthrough. Then there was the tip that being on a lower level makes mastering gifts easier which was a problem on my first playthrough.

You were actually carrying my sorry butt for most of the fights tbh

I'd definitely give that a try. Thanks!

I should note, that you can both use the NPCs AND another player at the same time. Just if the NPC dies the player has to black crystal out leave the session so that the host can rest at the bonfire thistle to get the NPC spawned again.

Honestly, the whole 'random player' thing I don't get into. Me and a friend of mine play coop games using a password so we can quickly leave or join whenever we want, even if the phantom guest should die.
