Anyone having issues mastering gifts?
Ever since I started my second playthrough on this character I haven't gotten any mastery for my gifts at all. Wasn't an issue on a previous character, playing on same difficulty both now and before. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix?

I belive it''s because of the player's level. The higher your level is compared to your enemy's level the longer it takes to master any gifts. My character is somewhere lvl 250+ and doesn't master gifts anymore... or it'll take too long.
I haven't confirmed this, but it appears that your character stops gaining experience in certain areas once a certain level is reached.

All I can say for certain is the last area (pretty much the stage before Silva) still gives out exp even at lvl280 and up. NG+ included.

Basically if you intend to make an 'all your powers combined' character very quickly you should stay at level 1. Level 1 characters appear to be able to get skill exp at any point in the game.

And also keep Murasame's skill exp passive on you when training.
If your level is too high, you won't master anything at lower difficulty.
if you want to master gifts, you need to be about lvl 150 at the last level. Any higher and you will have to go NG+ enchanced.
At high level 150+ go to ng+ enhanced to grind xp and skill points, monsters there give tons of both. Equip the faster gift learning passive.
If you're overleveled just farm those MJ items and Haze than spending hours just to slowly level up end-game gifts.
Can confirm the higher level you are, the slower gifts are mastered, in comparison to the enemies you are fighting. If you are in the tower of trials, or void district, you are likely to get at least a little mastery no matter the level.

Otherwise, there is an alternate way to master gifts. They can be 'purchased' for a bit of haze, and 'awakes' of various kinds. There are ways to farm any given awake, mostly from certain enemies or areas.

I would invest in the hermes passive ability that increases the chances of defeated enemies dropping items if you want to farm awakes. By late-game, farming awakes is usually more effective than attempting to master a gift the conventional way.
Play co-op. You automatically get scaled down to the host's level. The host is basically always the appropriate level for the area. You'll get normal exp

good .thx for info
I recommend farming those awakes. I did it like that and it wasn't THAT hard nor did it take very long. You just gotta know where the one you need, drops.
I've farmed Memories of Player for Awake MJ212 (just kill all enemies between the last two mistles repeatedly) and Provisional Government Center for Awake MJ310 (just kill the enemies near the first mistle over and over again).
Don't forget to equip Revenant's Greed from my n**** Tyrone Davis / Hermes and you should be fine.

Yeah, not feeling like farming around 1000 or more Awake MJ310 <_<
For Mj212s I just go to the last mistle in the player memories and kill the queen knights repeatedly. Not difficult if you are using a giant death lazor.
Farm the depths for MJ items, haze, and upgrade metals. The final boss of each map respawns and awards 2x metal + 2x MJ
