sorcerer cause you can clear an entire room without ever entering that room. just throw a snowball in there and run away. sorcerer's guild passive is also mana regen which is important for all classes.
paladin. self heal and shield help a ton with the early game. great damage. gets the most armor per level. and hammer blessing makes up for lack of ranged attack later on.
Personally I find Sorcerer the most fun to play because of this reason. Nothing beats using 1 skill and basically stomping everything albeit you can be too squishy.
I'd say Wizard is the worst for solo play as mobility is so important, the flameshield etc. isnt enough to save you if you get cornered and you need a bit more progression to make this class strong enough with decent mana regen.
That would be: evil infusion, frenetic eruption, wicked sickness, the hairy magus, starlight stinger. (stack critical chance items)
Walking around while constantly flamethrowing and meteoring is kinda fun :). However he is still quite fragile and things like markham's amulet is almost a must have.
If it's on a properly progressed profile, it's easily Ranger followed by Sorcerer.
Ranger got great mobility, long range, nice roomsweeping potential and is tough.
Wizard may be a glasscannon, but blastwave breaks projectiles and confuses.(second sucks.)
Paladin got shield and instantcast selfheals, dashmobility and large melee, is the toughest.
Warlock got life+manadraining primary and a host of spells to spend mana, second toughest.
Thief very fast primary that breaks projectiles, cheap throw skill, lots of avoid and dps skills.
Sorcerer slows, bounces damage multiple times, and send spells to where you haven't gone.
Priest is a bit special in starting with the least hp despite decent hpgrowths from levels,
highest regengrowths among all classes regardless of hp or mana, along with great survival stuff like remedy (frankly amazing tbh) and consecration (can be used to heal or just destroy swarms of foes with ease, remember you can stack multiple consecrations in same spot for multiple times the damage/drain.)
Orbs passive adds free damage, don't recommend upgrading beam anytime soon since a cheap beam is enough to manually control the orbs beams when desired. (Like on bosses.)
Too lazy to bring up dlc classes.
Mind that class titles in turn make the guild supply global statbonuses to all your characters.
A characters titlelevel depends on that characters best progress,as in how far in bosskilling they got,and after winning ng0,increases by one with each additional difficulty you won.
NG0 wintitle on class makes the guild grant all your chars:
Ranger +20attackpower. (usually useful since primary is good for most classes.)
Wizard +20skillpower. (always useful since affects absolutely everything not primary.)
Paladin +20armor. (survival stats are always great.)
Warlock +20resist. (survival stats are always great.)
Thief +35%goldfind. (helps affording midrun shopstuff without impacting town earnings.)
Sorcerer +2.00manaregen. (always good, extreme for "non-casters" due to low baseregen.)
Priest +1.40hpregen. (basically a lesser nonstop heal over time.)
(may add the average lvl 20 character got 0.47hpregen, so priest title is a pretty massive boost over basevalues.)
If you start from scratch on a new profile, rotating classes you play can help alot compared to just focusing a single one, since they get minor titlelevels from how high bosses they killed and in turn granting all your characters statbonuses helping them further.
All four starter ones are rather easy to progress without having accumulated stats too.
While the three you get as you explore and build town all start with low hp and usually some other issues that can be annoying at early levels.
If you have all titles at ng0win atleast, priest is ridiculously easy to solo the next 6ng's or so if you know what you're doing, being nearly unkillable.
(This steamroll level facetanking kinda fade off with ng's though.)
If you want decent earnings, just start with dwarven pickaxe and as much luckstat you can. (Luck is by far the best stat regardless of what you want anyways.)
Attuned you'd get like 700ore per ng0 use-all-portals run on average, which translates to about half a mil gold at the oretrader.
(Obviously applicable to any difficulty, just mentioning the ng0 average as just about every player can manage ng0.)
Durable, stable, and safe. Can abuse corners, bully targets at max range, nice DPS (especially when you have the luxury of standing still for max ROF), good RMB for emergenies or quick room-clears, easily generating and maintaining instant combos, not to mention having an easy time with the early bosses.
However, I still prefer Paladin overall. Really enjoy the durable in-your-face playstyle, swapping ranged damage of Ranger for the ability to casually block projectiles instead while carving everything into mincemeat. Double the fun if you manage to find some spiked boots so you can hurt everything just by walking into it.
If you've got everything unlocked, Paladin is easily the fastest class, assuming you aren't trying to kill the whole floor. Dashing through the floor and just picking up ore/items and moving on is very easy to do and will easily put you ahead of any other class doing the same thing. Of course this requires specific item setups & drink combinations, but can be easily done without to much hassle. Though that requires either looking up a guide or experimenting with items and drinks. If you don't care to do that, you'll probably have the easiest time with Ranger or Sorcerer, they are very straight forward with how they play and kill stuff with ease.
