Controls Completely Broken
Hi guys, I'm having some serious issues playing this game and was wondering if there was a solution. In the menus, the game acts as if I have an XBox controller plugged in, even if I don't. However, when in-game, the game will only respond to mouse and keyboard, but will not let me interact with the environment (I cannot talk to the man at the beggining of the game outside the restaurant.) The game does not respond to controller input at all.

So basically, I have XBox button prompts, but neither an XBox controller nor M&KB respond fully (or at all) in the game. Any solutions to this?

Do you have any kind of controller or joystick plugged in? Maybe try removing USB devices you don't need while playing just to see if it is erroneously picking something up thinking it is a controller somehow? That seems far fetched but I'm just brainstorming here. I'll try anything when I am stuck even if it doesn't make a lot of sense. Sometimes it actually works. Not often, but sometimes.

I assume you are playing on a PC running Windows btw? I noticed with the Mac version that the mouse was out to lunch for lack of a better term. I could see a pointer fly around occasionally but not one I could control. I went with a controller using analog mode and it sort of works but the controls are terrible because some functions are still on the keyboard so you need to use both to play which is stupid. I blame this on it being a poor port and I don't think it is just the Mac port which is just a cider wrapper but rather the PC port itself.

Thanks for the reply. I do have an XBox One controller, but this is an issue regardless of if it's plugged in or not. I've tried reinstalling the game, reinstalling my controller drivers, disabling/uninstalling combinations of drivers in Device Manager... It's a really odd issue, and I don't have a problem like this anywhere else. For now I've just given up and started playing the game with the XBox button prompts (I found out I could actually talk to people - the key is '1' rather than 'E' as I thought it was.)

EDIT: And yes, this is Windows 8.1.

buddy, why don't you just check the button layout in the options. there you can even reconfigure your buttons for m&k however you want. the xbox button prompts may not disappear, but that is something you see in a lot of console ports. i find it rather funny that you stated you never encountered anything like that before...i see it in every other game.
