Darkness 1 vital to story?

Title says it all, i Want to buy the darkness 2 but i don't know whether to play the first game, although im reluctent as ill need to get it shipped in from the US.
So is the first game that important or is there a video or something i can watch that Summarizes the story?

Never played the first one because I don't own it either, but I would say it is completely unnecessary.

I would recommend watching a playthrough that someone did. All you really need to know is who Jenny Romano is and her role in the story and why Jackie has the darkness.

It has an option for "previous in the darkness" in the second one anyway when you first start which tells you all about the first one, but yeah the first one was really good so I do recommend playing it

The first game of the darkness series is a must have, it's atmospheric as ♥♥♥♥. It's better story wise and it immerses u in a dark world. I'd suggest playing it anyway before playing the second one.

At the beginning of The Darkness 2, you can watch a background story (about what happened preciously in Darkness 1), ... or you can skip it if you know....
