Xbox 360 controller not working

I have a microsoft Xbox 360 controller and when I plug it in to play Darkness 2 it will not recognize the controller. None of the buttons I press do anything. This controller works well on most of my other games that offer controller support, however not this game. Anyone have any idea as to why I'm having this issue?

Please, help me! I have the same problem. I run the game, I can skip video logos in the beginning with my gamepad, I can even enter game menu by pressing any button of my XBox controller, but after that -- any of buttons doesn't response.
Windows 7 x64, wired XBox 360 controller.

I had the samew problem yesterday. What I did was to exit out of the game and steam and then sign back into steam and play game. It worked then.
