I played this game on my old computer with no crash or blue screen.
GeForce 9800GT 1 GB
Intel Dual Core E5700 3.0 Ghz
2 GB DDR3 RAM Kingston 800 MHz
Mobo: Biostar G41D3C
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
I bought a new computer for a while with the following settings and I can still play the game without any problem.
I7 4790k 4.0 Ghz
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1070 8 GB
16 GB RAM DDR3 1600 MHz Corsair Black
Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3PH
Windows 10
If other games can cause the same problem on your computer, then it is a problem related to your computer and not on the specific game. You can try a program called BlueScreen View and see if it's something related in any driver or RAM.
PS: Yes, my motherboard is simple because I don't care about overclocking, SLI or frills that I don't use, and for me it would be a waste of money to have a motherboard that offers me something I'm not going to use. Just got the 4790k because I couldn't find the non-K version. =/
I play "The witcher 3" on high detail without any problems.
But to humor you; here are my pc specs:

This link says more about a bug or something that causes BSOD on AMD Bulldozer processors: https://scalibq.wordpress.com/2011/10/19/amd-bulldozer-can-it-get-even-worse/
A game older than The Darkness 2 called Total War: Shogun 2 is capable of causing BSOD on machines with AMD Bulldozer processors, according to the link above.
Link confirming BSOD in Total War: Shogun 2 and Deus Ex Human Revolution on AMD FX 8120: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-2185039.html
There are many other links of people complaining of BSOD in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and other games with your processor.
I have games developed or published by 2K Games as: The Darkness 2, Mafia 2, XCOM Enemy Unknown and Spec Ops The Line. They never caused a BSOD on my machine.
Don't go buying another processor as you did with your video card, lol. It is necessary to someone with the same processor to report if there are problems with BSOD actually with some games. You can try updating the driver of your processor, if you haven't already.
