Some questions about helicopters (game dont tell much, unfortunately).
Hello there! :steamhappy:

After I figured out much on hard way (build, wait, destroy, repeat) so many things (e. g. small planes cant have catering, cleaning or belt trucks or that Lounges only for big planes), I prefer to ask this helicoper-questions and NOT trying and failing. :steammocking:

My questions (please explain if your answer is for small or medium helicopters!):

- Which kind of fuel do the helicopters use?
- Can they use catering?
- Can they use cleaning?
- Can they use de-icing?
- Do they have baggage?
- Can they use belt trucks?
- Do I need protection against bird strikes?

- Lets say, I make three (independend) terminals. One for small planes, one for medium and one for big. Is it recommended to make a very own terminal for helicopters or do it work without problem, to add small helicopters to small planes and medium helicopters to medium planes?

Thank you for your detailed answers. :ht_heart:

Hi
Helicopters are a nice addition to be used in spots where a normal plane stand cannot be used. Everything is much simpler and they don't want most of the services. The benefit is that helicopters don't use taxiways. If you want a separate terminal it's up to you, but it is not required.

- Which kind of fuel do the helicopters use?
As far as I noticed, all small ones use AVgas.
Be aware, the game provides you two gameplay settings. Default and Realtistic fuel. In the default mode, all small stand aircrafts use AVgas. In realistic, aircrafts with jet engines require JetA1.

- Can they use catering?
no

- Can they use cleaning?
no (as no taxiways are used)

- Can they use de-icing?
no (as no taxiways are used)

- Do they have baggage?
- Can they use belt trucks?
yes, just ramp agents and baggage trucks are needed, no belt loaders

- Do I need protection against bird strikes?
as they come and from randomly and don't use runways, you couldn't cover your entire airport with bird-strike prevention systems. also as they don't use taxiways, they also cannot use hangars. So most of the emergencies in the game won't apply for helicopters.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer. :47_thumb_up:
This helps me a lot. I have no clue, why so many informations are not in the game. Often I didnt know, wthat the tutorial wants from me.

Last question about helicopters:
What is the difference between small and medium helicopters? Besides the larger heli pad and the more passengers/baggage, obviously.
andycishere May 18, 2024 @ 8:09am
Medium helicopers have bigger models which don't fit on the small pads.

The heli DLC is actually not much explained. Technically it's just a copy of the plane features, with new sprites, less complexity and less service requirements.

I normally use remote stands for the commercial helicopters. So, they also can use the shuttle and ramp agent cars. I also believe that small helicopters in commercial still use the gasoline instead of jet fuel.

Thanks for the answers.

One more thing you are without any help in this game:

I now have small helicopters, but I tried like an idiot to connect the heli pads to my baggage bay. I got correct sound that this worked and no error messages, but they never connected to the baggage bay.
I was so deperated, tried everything, build the entire helicopter section new, trice! But it just dont wanted to work!

Problem found, after many, many solution testings: The damn baggage bay can only ne connected to 12 stands. I dont have medium planes yet and I had exactly 12 small plane stands, from the beginning (never had a 13th). So, I never know, that I still reached the limit. What a crap!
And why the hell you only can only add one baggage bay to a baggage output (dont know the exact english name for this)? Where is the problem, to add two or more to this?
Also here, no information in the entire game about this.

I really like this game, but the lack of information is driving me crazy.

Next thing:
Okay, my small planes and helicopters works well. Lets look in direction of medium aircrafts.
I build all with this plan mode and when I want to build everything, okay, I need around 10 Million. Thats too much right now, so, I will just build some of this, just enough for some flights without passengers, baggage and so on. Same, as when I start with small planes.

After all ist built up, I have to see, that medium ONLY accept conventional aviation!? Grrrrrr!!!
All this buildings upkeep costs are so senseless now, until I build all I planned.
Addiotionally crap: I took a load of 1,2 Million to 4%, but after some minutes, this loan switched to 7% and the bank logo also changed. Great! I got cheated!

ThIs gAmE iS kIlLiNg My NeRvEs... :shit:

Every winter, my small avations have total chaos, because of de-icing (if there is no ice, everything works without any problem). So I decided to build a second landing strip. One for starts, one for landing.
I only need ONE enter and exit to these runways, but WHYYYYYYY force me this game to build TWO on every runway??? The second onr is not in use, on BOTH runways. I had to rebuild so much because of this nonsense!!

Holy mother...

I cannot tell what you are saying in that part above "this game is killing my nerves" but it's because realistically you need two entrances/exits. That's just how it works.

The second ramp doesn't need to at the other end. It can act at any place as decoration.

When you use a landing strip ONLY for landing, then you need TWO entrances/exits? Thats logical for you?!
When I add the second entrance/exit, but without any connections, THEN the damn landing strip works.
This sounds really logical for you?!?

Sorry, but this dont want to go into my head.

...Yes. Realistically, aircraft should come from both directions. They don't bcause they're stupid, but they should.

Take a break, Take a deep breath, Pause the game, Read the UI! The baggage bay is not the one you should loose your nerves for. And if you keep on thinking 1 bay is 12 stands, You are going to have issues when you move to medium and large size stands!

For simplicity sake. By having the baggage bay connect to
- the stands
- Dropoff / checkins
- baggage claim

The tilt tray calculation are much easier, and the player experience is actually much easier.

Else you would need to have your stand also connected to the baggage claim, but they would both need to be connected to the same baggage bay.

It also works if you build one entrance and let the setting of the entrance to accept both.

Haha, thank you for for reassuring me. :D
Later I saw this information (12 stands on small planes), but until this, I was lost of informations.
Your screenshot seems not correct or old (?). Because, medium can have 8 and big 6.
Where we are at my next problem, haha. Because, I built everything up with the "knowing" of 12 stands per baggage bay, but didnt see (before!), that this only counts for small planes. I built 12 medium aircraft stands and 12 medium helicopter stands and 2 bagge bays. Okay, now I have to build a third (3x8 are also 24).

At this point I need a better explanation: My problem is, that I can only connect ONE baggage bay to ONE baggage area (where people can get their baggage after flight). It is not possible (for me), to connect TWO baggage bays to ONE baggage area (sorry, my game is not in english, so I have to guess the correct terms).

I really thank you to ignore my rage and trying to help me, I appreciate that a lot. :ht_heart:

No way! Really?! I never tried this out. I will report after my test.

It's correct, one baggage claim zone can only be assigned to one baggage bay. While one baggage bay can have multiple claim zones (which is useless)
