Service vehicle management
So I've been combing through threads, but most are years old and I'm not sure if any of the advice is even viable. I simply want to know if there's some way I can keep my service vehicles from grid-locking up. Even if I give them extra roads they only want to take one path. I had a terminal with 12 large plane stands circling it, and it all worked just fine, until it didn't! And then I look to see literally my whole fleet is just bumper to bumper.

I tried the F10 trick, that didn't really help but for a few minutes, same with reloading. I guess I've gotten my money's worth out of this since I got about 60 hours into it, but this is seriously a deal breaker and I'd like to ask if there is some kind of tried and true trick to prevent it short of micro managing road restrictions. I wanted to manage an airport not traffic. ><

Hi

What I have noticed is that the using roads in planning mode can sometimes causing vehicle path issues.

Do you have any screenshots where the issues appear? Or may do you want to upload your save to the Workshop to have a look into it?
Thanks for the reply.

I can get some screen shots tomorrow since I'm on my phone right now, but a lot of the pile up is happening either right near baggage bays or along the front portions of stands.
Here are some examples of just a few vehicles getting clogged despite having tons of road options. This was a minor example, I've had it pile up to 6 to 10 at a time and they just stop. It's also a picture of the two terminals.

Please try to prevent roads with more than 2 lanes.
Stands have roads also included.
I added more roads to try to prevent the traffic gumming up, but I'll try going back and pruning them back down to just a single set of 2 lanes and the stands own default roads.
Have you tried using one way arrows if you have problems? you could make a loop from your stand to the baggage and back again. Like a big roundabout
I trimmed things down to 2-lane roads and used one way roads on some of the more cluttered stand areas and that seems to have helped a lot! Thanks for all the advice!
Sounds great. Pathfinding isn't the best sadly, so best is to keep paths as simple as possible.
It's really easy to end up with traffic jams outside the baggage bays. The ai is so stupid sometimes
Having faster trucks can also help. Sometimes if I have the slower fuel trucks, I end up with a jam because things get stuck behind them

A nice workaround for flows in the baggage bays is to make them one way, one way in and one way out.
That is what I usually do and I have no issues with traffic jams around the baggage bays, the traffic jams I do have problems with is the cars and buses with PAX arriving to the airport and getting to the parking lot.
