Heliports ?

Is it possible to make a heliport only? Do I still have to make a airport with airplanes or can i just use helicopters only ? I would like to make just helicopters only .

not an expert but... looks like you have research the heliport which takes staff which means cash. You might be able to finesse the initial funding and make it work but looks like you need to generate revenue to get research done. Dont see why you couldnt delete fixed wing ramps once you have rotary available.

Yes, you can play only helicopters. Not sure where the button is.
But i guess a new save game would be a thing.

There is nothing different between helicopter only and normal airports, it just that helicopter only ones don't have a runway. I am pretty sure it solely depends on how you build.

I added a heliport to one of my existing saves and maxed out helicopter operations in addition to my existing airline operations. based on this experience I would say it is entirely possible. but be aware that since there are only 2 Helicopter Airlines and helicopters have 2-6 passengers for small helicopters and no more than 20 for large ones. this severely limits your passenger flow and thus income. Also the only services Helicopters can receive are baggage and fuel, so no supplementary income from catering, cleaning or de-icing. even the fuel kinda screws you because unlike aircraft, small airline helicopters don't accept A-1 fuel but large ones still require it meaning you need to build both fuel systems and buy both fuel trucks. so per flight you spend double on fuel services than you would with airline fixed wing fuel services which only need A-1.

with a maxed out helicopter operation 100% satisfaction from both helicopter airlines and 100% GA satisfaction I was only able to fill 3 medium helicopter stands, 5 small helicopter stands and 6 GA helicopter stands during any single 24 hour period. that's approximately 85ish passengers for 14 flights per hour plus the income from the parked GA. even with stores and restaurants the income is not impressive but it will keep the lights on. just expect to grind a lot longer for achievements.
