Higher Tier Security Desks

I haven't yet needed to use the higher tier security desks; which are considerably larger than the basic Tier 1 ones.

Before I do; is there any point to them at all? I've never had a backlog of passengers at security, just by using T1 checks - although I'd say my airport is still pretty small with 7 small stands and 6 medium stands.

I'm just embarking on my 'Terminal 2' project for international / large flights so need to incorporate this thinking into my design. My small/medium terminal is a total mess because I was learning the game and it's had a fair few reworks :)

I wrote in another discussion about a very good scheme. It's really necessary so that you don't get fined. Also, if you want to win the Airport of the Year award, this is what you need to do. Because the baggage security system is also taken into account when calculating the rating.

It also makes a difference if you are using the default passenger numbers per flight as opposed to using realistic passenger numbers per flight. You will see queues using the latter.

Larger secturity checkpoints are a tiny bit more staff efficient and cost efficient I think (for the space), and can also process passsengers faster than small ones. Im not sure if the later means faster than 1 small, or faster than the number of small security checkpoints that can fit into the space of one larger one.

Unless there was an update since I played last, the smaller checkpoints are the only ones worth using. the small ones use a small space and only 1 staff while the large ones use something like 4-5 staff. I did not notice any speed improvement to the large ones and there is no "security bonus" for the large ones. even if the large one is slightly faster than a smaller one, you can put more of the smaller ones in the same space and increase throughput. most of the security rating comes from scanning bags which is not dependent on your security checkpoints.
