Staff rooms will act as break rooms as far as I can tell, so you'll want a few (or just one, really) near your gates so staff don't have to hike half way across the continent just to get to work.
I will check if the delays are related to the distance, but I know that my closest gate to this room is the second in number of times to have delays
Always ensure your flights have both ample separation (I schedule 70 minute gaps right now in the auto-scheduler), and if you're having problems, adjust your stands to only allow day flights. This will create a hole in the schedule overnight that allows delay chains to clear out before the first morning flight is in.
Remember, no matter how early or late a flight is, it's still going to need it's allotted time to perform turnaround. So if you have a 60 minute turnaround that turns into 120 minutes because of an unseen delay, then suddenly the second plane is only JUST ARRIVING when it's already almost time for it to leave.
This also inevitably will have knock-on issues at the checkin desks. Check in isn't going to open for a flight that isn't there. (They may let you check in for the real world, but I think the game strictly keeps check-in locked out until the flight is landing, I'll have to check.) Thus, already delayed is delayed even more.
So I opted to disable automatic scheduling at a gate, manually add flights, always leaving a space, to be able to reschedule any flight that was delayed and in one day I was able to recover ... It worked ;)
Pushback trucks. I had assigned specific pushback trucks to specific gates, and all seemed to work fine until a smaller plane arrives at the gate. It is serviced, baggage loaded/unloaded, passengers disembark/embark, catering, cleaning, etc. Everything BUT pushback.
I think the truck was too big for the aircraft. This was a medium stand and, I don't recall the precise aircraft model but it was a "smaller" plane than others that didn't have issues.
So, I unassigned the truck from that gate and the delay on pushback has gone.
Maybe it is something similar for you?
if you feel like you might have some delays in your airport then you should go into your flight planner and there is a minimum flight seperation in the top right that you can adjust. works well with auto planner
