Baggage claim area

Hey. I'm playing the tutorial, the current objective is to set up a baggage belt system. I'm stuck at setting the baggage claim area. What are its requirements?

Ramp agents can access the baggage bay, belts are set up correctly. I put my claim area in a secure zone, it's 1 square bigger on each side than the belt carousel. However I can't activate Baggage handling service because the claim area isn't flagged as present.

Have you connected any stands to the baggage bay? Also check you have all the belts running in the correct direction and they don’t cross on the same floor.

The claim area as far as I know has no particular size requirement.

Baggage claim area has to be in a free zone, not a secure zone.
Have you connected the baggage bay to the claim area?

Actually it can be in a secure zone. I think as long as you don’t have the baggage bay already connected to another claim area in a free zone it will be fine. It was in a dev blog a while ago.

Hmmm... this might be the issue, I don't remember. As soon as I'm on my pc I'll check it out.

Where exactly can and can't be placed the baggage bay? It forces me to place it in a secure zone, fair enough; but it forces me to "place" it "inside" too, and I don't get this part. Does it mean on terminal foundations, inside the actual building? Does that makes sense? I can't place it in open terrain nor in sidewalk, that's for sure.

The baggage stuff is being BY FAR the most confusing feature of the game to me thus far, and the most time consuming one.

I just build terminal somewhere and place it in there (that means inside). In a non secure zone.

Connect Check-in to baggage bay
Connect stand to baggage bay
Connect baggage bay to baggage claim
OPEN baggage claim
Connect everything with conveyors - done

It is confusing at first but after a few attempts it gets really easy.

What confuses me the most is this. It's a structure that's surrounded by road (or at least has to contact one) and it must be inside a building? I don't get it. The right way to do it is demolishing a portion of wall so you can build the road? Sounds counterintuitive to say the least.

Yea when you build the terminal foundations, you need to destroy the walls and make a loop

Guys can you show me a screenshot of your baggage claim area, please? I'm struggling for the third day now, following all forum guides and... something's missing. The choke point for me is when I have connected all check-ins and stands, connected baggage bay to baggage claim, conveyor belt is running from the check-ins; and then I am shown a red exclamation mark saying 'not connected'. When I click on the bay, I'm asked to connect the baggage ramp AGAIN - and this is where I get stuck. Thank you in advance for your help.

You need to set a baggage claim area, that's where that belt needs to end. Then connect said area to the baggage bay and open both of them.

You need to connect it to your conveyor system. It looks like your arrival side is just running off into the ground. I reccomend putting the whole system underground so you can fit the security scanners (or not) and having upward conveyors at the collection carousels. The baggage bay also needs to be accessible to the baggage vehicles. Mine is just a remote bay at the side of the airfield.

The conveyor belt is placed inside a baggage claim zone; when I click on it, therer is an option to connect it to a baggage claim zone, and so I connect it. But when I click on it again, the button 'connect it to a baggage claim zone' changes to 'reconnect it to a baggage claim zone' - like there should be a second zone (which I haven't set).
I have started the game anew, I will try to figure the baggage claim as soon as I research it again.

Reconnect comes up as an option once the claim area is already connected to a baggage bay. You don’t need to connect it again, that option allows you to switch a claim area to a different baggage bay.
