The devs are forcing folks to choose whether to sim or not to sim ACEO.
I totally agree with you. Now I was thinking as I was reading your post. In the real world, if there weren't fences around airports, would they have to worry about wild animals coming onto the runway? I did see a youtube video of an airplane landing, that the landing gear literally runs over a deer.
Anyway, I just put up the fence and that seems to work. But yes it is annoying.
Do patrols really work? I've never seen an animal disappear as a police car passes. Great to know fences work though, it's a tough feature to implement.
Animals seem a rather pointless addition all round. Even the bird strike issue would be better as just a statistical thing that can be reduced by anti-bird strike tech.
"devs forcing folks to choose whether to sim or not to sim" What the...? That statement makes no sense.
Animals are a common sight around the airports. Deer, foxes, wolves are some of the most common animals. They can jump over fences, dig underneath and use concrete conduits to travel to and fro. I have yet to see a bird strike system that works. A good ole shotgun to disperse the flock seems to be the best truant.
You can not turn off emergency in normal game play. Hence you either play the game or you don't. You can not turn off animal(s) either.
When you start a new game make a save straight away, or load an existing save. When saved, locate your save game in:
--> C:\Users\(your user)\AppData\Roaming\Apoapsis Studios\Airport CEO\Saves\
In the 'save' folder' open your 3 letter airport folder. In it you will find a file called GameData.json
Open this file with notepad and search for 'animal'. There should only be one and it reads:
animalsDisabled":false
Change this to true and no animals will appear on your screen :-)
(not tested far enough in-game though for bird issues)
Hope this helps!
Do you play sandbox? If yes, animals are by default turned off in the advanced options when you start a sandbox game.
