Airport CEO or SimAirport?
To those who have played both, which is heading towards more realism? I understand that Airport CEO is still at a much earlier stage of development, but do you believe that it has a higher potential?

In my opinion, Airport CEO is hands down a better game. Sure it is new and a little buggy, but it is much more realistic and has a lot of potential to grow into a really great game. Sim Airport is good, but much simpler than ACEO. It has also grown a lot, but the realism aspect isn't the same as ACEO.

I think, in Sim Airport you have less to do, but it is not so buggy as Airport CEO, it runs more smoothly. ACEO has more of an airport simulation, but there a many obvious bugs.
Both grow (i hope so) and i think both are good pieces of software. Buy ACEO on the low price now and SimAirport perhaps in the next sale.

I have put over 200 hours into SimAirport since it came out and really enjoyed it. The devs over there (like the devs here) are very positive, take feedback well, and are responsive with patches and adding content. The custom airlines mods and improvements on the baggage and fuel systems have really helped the game.

I was vocal on the SimAirport forums being critical of the bugs encountered right away in ACEO. However, I have put over 20 hours into ACEO the past 4 or 5 days and am very impressed and have had a lot of fun. The bugs that I have encountered are minor and only take a quick save and reload to fix. I started an airport on extreme and have played it out to have nearly 1/2 a million in the bank. The progression of the game on extreme is top notch. I found myself doing minor improvements while I saved up for larger purchases/procurements. Can't say enough, I really enjoyed the experience and can't wait for new content.

One more thing to add, I didn't have a whole lot of trouble figuring out the game and honestly I put that on me having a lot of experience with SimAirport. Many of SimAirport's systems are not as polished as ACEO's (Baggage, Fuel), however, the basic logic is the same and I didn't have any trouble picking up how to put together these systems in ACEO.

Well put. I think it is safe to say that ACEO is considerably more polished than SImAirport was at release. Currently, SIm Airport does a greater level of detail in some areas, but this is largely because they have been live for a few months and have had more user feedback to work with and implement. That being said, ACEO, as it is, feels more polished both visually and in terms of the interface, than SIm Airport.

I also want to second Mitchell's remark about the developers. I think it is great that the developers of both projects have such great attitudes, and have each established a close-knit relationship with the community., even to the point of not objecting to open discussion of each other's projects on their forums. Not all developers are like that. It leaves me with a very positive feeling overall as a customer of both games.

I like ACEO way better but they REALLY need a graphic designer in their team. So I was very happy when Olof/Fredrik announced that the would hire a graphic artist...:)

ACEO could very easily become my most favorite game of all time.

A 3D version of this type of game would really bring realism and would be a good future outlook for later on. This 2D top down is them just getting started to me. Remember GTA started as a 2D game, now look at it.

There are some old buggy 3D games out there, called Airport Tycoon. Not to find on steam and I think not to work on Win7+ properbly, but they are out there and I played them in former...in younger days. ^^

I think it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a simple game with more freedoms in building, then Sim Airport should be your choice. If you are looking for a more complex game with more management involved, then ACEO is the way to go.

I actually disagree with this. I think there is more crossover than some think.

Personally, I dont find ACEO as complex as people are saying. Additionally, I don't think SimAirport is as simple as people claim either. At this point neither game is very "deep".

Fun, yes. Challenging, no. That applies to both games.

SimAirport. It supports 21:9 OOTB.

Thanks guys. I will be purchasing ACEO. I like that the developers are listening and take suggestions from the community.

ACEO has double the content of its competition at this point, even if all of it isn't 100% implemented or working properly. ACEO shows loads more potential in the Management/Simulation aspect of Airport Management; whereas SimAirport seems to focus solely on building, with management aspects being lackluster afterthoughts.
