Anyone separating incoming passengers from the departure lounge passengers?
Something I'm finding weird about all the Let's Plays on Airport CEO (on YouTube) is the incoming flight passengers mixing in the lounge with the outgoing passengers.

Usually there is some kind of passage between the check in desk and the lounge so the incoming passengers are re-directed to the baggage pick up. Anyone seen any Airport CEO players trying something like this?

It/s hard to do this kind of passage without 2 floors, at least if you have gates all around the terminal and not only on one side.

I was thinking of something along the lines of a corridor that runs all the way around the outside wall of the departure lounge.

At each gate have a set of sliding doors into the corridor. The outbound passengers essentially pass across the corridor, through the sliding doors into their flight.

Have the end of the corridor be the only way to access the baggage claim, meaning *hopefully* the inbound passengers won't pass through the doors into the lounge, but will walk along the corridor to claim their baggage...

Just thinking out loud here. Would be cool to separate them somehow.

One of my nits as well. As an experiment, I placed baggage claim and check-in very far apart, and the people still used the seating in the other areas.

IRL at regionals, you see pax mingling all the time as most airports are a single floor with only TSA or a store/shop seperating the tix counter and baggage claim.

Would be cool if there was an option to place signs. Like when you land IRL, there are always clear signs away from the departure area towards the baggage claim and passport control etc.

I agree with people posting that two floors is the normal solution... would be tricky in this game to really 'watch' your airport in action if they implemented multiple floors though.

Hi - this was the one thing that bugged me about the game but what you suggest is how i managed it . I have my stands at both sides of the airport and a corridor runs all the way around and meets in the middle at the back. This is where i have my security exits which lead into my baggage claim.

Good luck with yours!

Ian, so awesome to hear it works!! I have seen it at a few small airports around the world. Will try it out in game soon...

With the exits being much farther when using the passageways, to make it easier for your staff moving around the airport you can also put some security exit(s) in staff only area(s). Arriving passengers will ignore these exits without thinking about moving close to them even if it's much shorter exit than through the passageway corridor.

Majority of airports around the world passengers mix, its only the big and most commonly used airports that have it that way (which would be nice) but just saying.

I tried that:

Somepassengers take the wrong exit though so they have to move outside :).

Seems like the timeline does mention that they will incorporate multiple floors into the final version of the game, if everything goes well. I hope it gets that far, as having separate departure and arrival lounges seems like an essential part of creating a large airport.

There were also a lot of discussions about that with SimAirport. It is not necessary to seperate them this strictly. At least there are a few old terminals where this isn't possible. Like here in Barcelona for example in Terminal 2 during deboarding you always "bump" into the people waiting for boarding. With Airport CEO the passenger deboarding still walking to the boarding desk before heading other ways.

I build a small airport where the boarding and baggageclaim are seperate areas (or nearly buildings). They always head first for the boarding desk but afterwards the will head as supposed to the baggage claim with the security exits. So for now it just looks a bit weird but can work - more or less.

Steko, you're right - I noticed also that it is the arrival passengers heading back through the actual boarding desk before looking for an exit or baggage. So if you place the boarding desk away from the gate to try and separate them, it actually makes it more strange.

I would love to see this improved upon. It may not seem like a huge deal, but I would love the option to separate them whether it's a corridor, a different room or even a different floor.

I actually think some kind of directions option would help the game overall. I have a lot of employees getting lost also, so the ability to place arrows or signs around the map would help.

Thinking out loud here :D

In my experiance, with the exception of "those that need a little extra time to board", you don't have the outgoing pax crammed up or in the queue (though nowhere near as bad as SA) at the boarding desk. Aircaft still has to be cleaned, flt crew complete their checks and so forth. With the unrealistic turn time there should be no reason for anybody in the way, queued up (unless you intentially created a gate like that) while an aircraft is deplanning.

I previously had it set up in mine where the checkpoints to the "secure area" were only in the room where the check-in desk where and had baggage claim in its own room with the only "secure area exits" going to the baggage claim. Worked ok for the first half of the day, then started getting "passanger can not find security checkpoint" notice.
