ANCIENT ALPHAS Readme!
AMID EVIL ALPHAS/BETAS!
Hey all, Rez here! You may know me as New Blood's UI designer, although I did not have a hand in creating AMID EVIL's gorgeous UI, I'm simply here to provide you all with some additional info about the newly released ANCIENT ALPHAS, including some quotes and notes from the developers. So without further ado, I'll hand it over to them!

"We thought it would be cool to share some development details and early builds of AE.
We always enjoyed playing alphas and betas etc of some of our favourite games, so here's a few of them. Cheers again to the AE fans out there, and stay tuned because we got more stuff coming!"

Helpful stuff for playing around with the builds:
1. Use the ` key to open the console. (tilde key)
2. Type 'open' and then a list of levels should appear, use the arrow keys or type the full command to open the levels, such as:
open gateway
open leon9
etc.
3. The standard AMID EVIL Cheats work as per usual.

31 August 2016
"This is the earliest build I could find. We were basically messing around in our spare time at this point and it's fairly barebones.
You can see the Axe was already in, there was a 'wand' sprite that was made as a test that is kinda borked and shows up with weapon #2 attack frames.
The gateway is radically different here and got scrapped."


NOTE:
  • You may not be able to quit using the menu in this build. Press alt+f4 to quit.
  • An error may appear on startup but the game should still run.
November 2016
"We started offcial AE development on 21 November 2016, so this is a few weeks in to development."

December 2016
"This build was about 1-2 weeks later than the previous build. We sent this build to Dave at New Blood, he thought it needed more work.
We doubled down to really make the game a lot nicer in feel before sending him another."


23 May 2017
"This is the build we sent to Dave at New Blood, he liked this build and we signed up two days later!"

22 October 2017
"We Announced AE on the 26th of October 2017, This build was on show on the 27th October 2017 at PAX Australia.

It's closer in feel to the first Early Access build. We were actually pretty optimistic about getting the game out by the end of the year at this point. But it in reality took another year and half or so, development waxed and waned, and we ended up adding a lot more content than we thought we originally would have by final release."
