PLEASE HELP! Crashing at startup
I'm trying to play this on mac and as soon as I get to the title screen and it says to 'press enter' it immediately crashes. I'm using a ps4 controller. I literally just bought it and tried starting it 3 times and same thing. Tried searching this problem but found no results. ANY help is very appreciated. Thank you.

UPDATE: I just noticed that it's the PS4 controller.. I had this problem with Just Cause 3 a long time ago so I thought I'd try it.. If I start the game without the controller connected it will go past the 'press enter' page. As soon as I turn the PS4 controller on it immediately crashes.

So how do I play this game on my mac with a controller??? It says full controller support, that's half the reason I bought it in the first place! I don't have a mouse for this macbook and playing fps/6dof games with the trackpad is just awkward and not ideal. Any fixes?

Sorry, can't help with that, but in the meantime you might be able to pick up a second hand mouse for a couple of bucks.

From what I heard, gamepad support is very limited, and you can't map the joystick axes however you want. So this port might not meet your expectations, even if you manage to fix the crash issue.

However, I was also mostly used to gamepad, but switched to keyboard & mouse controls, and this became my prefered input method. So if this is not super important for you, I'd recommend to try this too.

I'm not familiar with PS4 gamepad support on Mac, but some ideas for troubleshooting: Are you using a tool like DS4Windows (but a variant for Mac)? Maybe you need such a tool. Or maybe you're already using such a tool, and it's conflicting with this game.
You can also configure a gamepad in Steam's Big Picture mode, and enabling or disabling support might fix the problem for you.
Just some thoughts...

You might also want to post in the bugs thread, if you haven't done that yet. And if nothing works, you can refund the game if your playtime is less than 2 hours, and it's less than 2 weeks after purchase.

Negative, I don't use any gamepad software on this macbook, it's always just worked by default much like a xbox 360/one pad on windows. I chose the PS4 controller cuz it connects through bluetooth and just connects and works immediately without any need for any 3rd party software. It just works! Which is rare with Mac's and none Apple software!! I tried using my wired 360 controller with it but it requires extra software and it just never worked, the macbook recognized it was connected but it wouldn't work with steam or any other games/apps.. The PS4 controller on the other hand, just plain worked with everything so I got one of those and never looked back.. Well, some steam/other games with gamepad support don't all work with the ps4 controller for one reason or another but usually it doesn't matter because pretty much all I play on this macbook are very low-maintenance 2D indie games, OpenEmu or REALLY old games so it's never really been an issue... And full disclosure, I actually do have a mouse on my main windows gaming PC, but it's just inconvenient as I'm always using the macbook on the couch/bed etc and I bought this game to play on the macbook, which I got to play those types of games (and garageband/other stuff, not just gaming!) Obviously I COULD play this on the PC, but when I have the time and opportunity to play on the PC I always play the bigger/heavier games. And keep the smaller (but no less awesome) indie/classic games on the mac - The ones that support mac anyways! So clearly it's not impossible to disconnect the mouse and use it with this game and/or others, just inconvenient for obvious reasons, and I was just really hoping to play this game with my gamepad like I usually do and would definitely prefer to play it that way IF it's possible with this game, which is why I decided to post. I'm definitely not complaining, It's not exactly critical or anything, and I wouldn't refund it for that reason alone because I really like this game... It still works and plays relatively smooth on the macbook with the resolution turned down and the settings on low - which is odd cuz you'd think an old game like this would play perfectly on a 2017 macbook pro with everything set to high! but nope.. Maybe it's just bad optimisation on mac or the modern graphical upgrades it has.. But that's besides the point!

So anyways, I figured I'd just try asking anyways to see if there was some fix, or something I missed or didn't think of.. I didn't think of the Big Picture mode option, I will give that a try. You never know, hopefully something like that will actually fix the problem! But if anyone knows any other fixes or thinks of something, ANY help/suggestions are definitely appreciated! Thank you. :)

If you want to try out Steam gamepad support via Big Picture, here are some instructions:
- open Big Picture mode
- go to controller settings, and configure your gamepad
- enable PlayStation Configuration Support
(I neither have a Mac nor a PS4 gamepad, but a similar config reliably helped me with my gamepad and a certain game engine)

If this option is enabled, Steam will try to suppport it even if you're not in Big Picture mode. Keep in mind that this can interfer with gamepad support in a negative way, and also affect other games, so it might be better to turn it off if you don't need it.

I can't promise that this will work, but it might be worth a try, good luck! :)

Hah, seems like the game is fit to be played on your pc after all :)
