We're sorry to hear you are having issues.
Sometimes the clue is difficult to see if there are trees/bushes etc in the way so try getting rid of these if the clue leads near to this and then see if you can find it.
Can you go back to the day before and then try this again?

Looking up a youtube walkthough of the quest, I see that the clue should be some bright pink colorful fur, something I'd definitely see. I initially didn't think the glitch would hinder my game, I figured I could just put it off, but I had to talk to Arlo eventually, haha. I ended up just accepting the fail and moving on, because I'd rather lose out on a side quest with a character than an entire day of gameplay. Still bummed I didn't get to see it though, I like Arlo quite a bit!
Though I'm no longer working with the glitch, I still think it's worth fixing for other players!
