I'm not hearing any voices.
I thought it was weird when I didn't hear what the voices sounded like when I started the game but when I never heard anything in the cinematic and then when meeting presly I knew there was something wrong.

Voices
I noticed that when I talk to some of the villagers, not all of them speak. The words come up on the screen but no sound when they talk. I checked the setting and Voice is turned on. I even tried resetting it and nothing worked.

Same issue, I didn't know there were voices in the game until I saw it mentioned in this forum. The game defaulted to having it unchecked, but even checking it/restarting the game does not fix it. I'm about 7 hours into the game.

EDIT: I turned voice volume from 50 to 100 and I can now hear people.

Hello everyone,

Can you all please try turning up your volume as suggested by Darksnake?

If the issue continues, can you please talk to a few of the villagers with the issue and then send us your output_log.

You can find your output_log here: C:\Users\PC name\AppData\LocalLow\Pathea Games\My Time at Portia. you can mail us the output_log to help@team17support.com with a link to this steam post (https://steamcommunity.com/app/666140/discussions/1/1742231705652404506/)

I understand this is frustrating for you and we hope to have a solution for you as quickly as possible.

Our apologies for any inconvenience.

It seems to be sporadically working for me. Some lines of dialog/conversation play and others do not.

Sometimes the greeting works, but not chat, sometimes quest audio plays and other times it does not, etc.

This isn't a full list, but this is some testing I did.

Spoke to Pinky, did work.
Spoke to Albert, did work.
Spoke to Django, did not work.
Spoke to Sonia, did work.
Spoke to Higgins, did work.
Spoke to Issac, did work.
Spoke to Tody, did not work.
Spoke to Russo, did work.
Spoke to Lee, did work.
Spoke to Mars, did work.
Spoke to Oaks, did not work.
Spoke to Alice, did not work.
Spoke to Martha, did not work.
Spoke top Paulie, did not work.
Spoke to Phyllis, did not work (got an initial "Hey").
Spoke to Carol, did work.
Spoke to Merlin, did not work.
Spoke to Petra, did not work (got initial "Hello", did work when selected "Research")
Spoke with Papa Bear, did work.
Spoke with Dr. Xu, did not work. Quest text for Dog quest did work.
Spoke to Arlo, did work. Quest text for Dog quest did not work. Quest text for being accused by Higgins did not work.
Spoke to Mei, did not work.
Spoke to Erwa, did not work.

I get some voices but others just give a weird typewriter sound as the text appears, it's really grating.

Yeah I tried it. Doesn't work. I've reinstalled twice and it won't work.

I don't think every character has voiceover acting finished. Some NPCs seem to have voiceover for some dialogs and not others, some NPCs don't seem to have voiceovers at all. During the EA there were a lot of voiceover lines that were poorly recorded, and I saw in one of the latest patch notes that they removed/rerecorded some of those lines.

Maybe a dev can chime in to confirm this for us, but that's my understanding. It does seem like an odd choice to bring a game out of EA when the voiceovers are inconsistent.

That's strange. I'm not sure though if you're just at a point in the game where no voice lines are available. I'm pretty far into the game, and since the last couple patches, I think I've only hit 3-5 actual voiced lines in the past 10 hours of game play. So it's difficult to say whether or not it's a bug that you're experiencing. Unless you can post the actual lines of dialog and get confirmation by the devs that those lines are indeed voiced.

Hi everyone,

Can you please go to your game settings and check if you have checked the option Voice On? Also can you please check if the Voiceover slider on the 'Sound' tab is also on?

Thank you,

I don't even have the option for Voice Over in the sound tab. I have it on Xbox One.

Hi Bloodpix,

Voiceover was a community activity for the PC Early Access version of My Time At Portia. We are investigating the possibility of adding new voice content to Xbox and other consoles.

Our apologies for any confusion,
