Unmovable rug

Just started playing this so apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I bought the green stripey rug from Paulie but once it was put down in the house I couldn't pick it back up. Even when the house was upgraded it was unmovable. Not a problem as I started again anyway but still needs looking at.

Hit it with the axe twice to pick it up. Same method applies for other floor pieces.

I tried, I tried it with all different tools when the axe didn't work but nothing happened. Thanks anyway :)

You need to stand close enough to it with the axe equipped that a small green square lights up above the carpet. Then you can hit it twice with the axe.

Hit it with your Axe, twice, this will put it back into your inventory, then sell it, toss it, whatever.

Extended Explanation: When you stand with your Axe in hand near something that can't be moved normally or you wish to put into your inventory and sell off....you will see a green square, if standing correctly positioned.
You then swing your Axe and the green square should turn blue, swing again and the item should disappear into your inventory or hot bar if the hot bar is not full.

Warning: This should only be done to items that are not full of something.
I.E. don't try it with your Storage Boxes if they have something in them or your Machines, if they are working on something or you haven't collected the items from them

Also, if you have something on a tile or rug, it will not come up, unless you move the item(s) you have on it.

Thanks for the detailed help, I had noticed the tile changing colour but hadn't thought much of it. I'll try it again. Much appreciated

How do you remove the big pink with white border rug when you have a Level 2 house? Nothing seems to be able to remove it.

Hi,
so did anyone have the chance to get rid of that awful giant pink rug ?
Mine is still on the floor even though i've hit it many times with my axe. I don't know what to do for it to disappear.

Buy a new flooring(not the cheapest one since it is default) in A&G Construction or Harbor Trade if you got that opened up.
Adding a different floor will change floor in all rooms inside your house, and it will remove that ugly carpet :)
