Also, which quest? The tree farm has more than one...
Never had to try the trees at the far end before, always any of them were available before, but will give it a go when back on there.
Will be a damn bu**er if it’s an unreparable glitch as will have to start again and so far spent ages on this saved file taking it slowly haha.
Close upon completion of the Tree Farm quest is the Bassiano Lift, which opens up another large area with plenty of trees to fell, including ironwood trees and a few other surprises. You can fast-travel up there and chop your day away as an acceptable alternative to the Tree Farm.
Upon the first day of spring the following year, I found that the Tree Farm was also restored to choppable condition, in addition to still being able to order wood.
So the trick is to try to time the lift control repair as close to the Tree Farm quest conclusion as possible, and you won't even miss it.
