I'm clueless how to make/find the 3 iron bars I need to fix his building. Any ideas/ suggestions would be appreciated.

You can mine the iron ore from Abandoned Ruins no. 2 (the one behind Dr Xu's clinic). To refine the ore into bars, you need to build a Civil Furnace. It is a 5 Data Disc technology that Petra can unlock for you (very likely to be the first technology she unlocks).

To find the Data Discs, do some mining in the Abandoned Ruins. Do yourself a favour and keep Petra busy unlocking new techs for you. Start by asking her to reseach the cheapest ones (5 discs, then 10 discs, then 20 discs).

Don't know if it becomes available right away, but Total Tools also sells ores, but that should only be used in emergencies. It is so much cheaper to go digging in the Abandoned Ruins.

If you haven't completed the bridge to Amber Island, which is required to gain access to the Abandoned Ruins #2, then the only source left for iron is the Sewage Plant hazardous ruins. On level 1, iron bars are a rare drop from Slow Gooey. On level 4, iron bars can be dropped from Plierimps.

RAD-82: I have completed bridge to Amber Island; I had no idea you would be able to access Abandoned Ruins #2 from Amber Island; I actually located it the long way. I have been in the Sewage Plant hazardous ruins. I believe I'm on Level 1; Plierimps, what a name?! Thank you so much for your help. I am trying to finish the Civil Furnace ~~ I cannot remember what my hold up is ~~ I'd have to go in the game & see. Thank you both sooo much! I may not have been clear with my wording. You don't get to the ruins from Amber Island. The Civil Corps won't let you enter the Abandoned Ruins #2 until you complete the bridge quest to Amber Island. It annoys me a little, because the two things have nothing to do with each other.
