I never have any of them feed while the livestock is growing - I check on them daily and restock aroma apples myself since I have to pet them then, but after that I just toss wheat in the helper box and never worry about it. This playthrough, even though I just stick with the white horse, I decided to get both horses and both llamas. But the llamas get angry when fed wheat (whiners). Ah well, guess they get to be cranky, since it doesn't matter. I didn't even bother petting my horses for loyalty anymore as it was just a daily task I don't actually need to do.
Yes, in most games I've only ever bothered with the white horse, but I decided just to have all the mounts cause I can. And in a prior game I bought the brown horse too as my spouse's horse. Obviously they don't use it, but the image is it is hers.
