Same sex couples

I think it's great that the game allows for same sex couples. but I have noticed that the partners don't talk differently to someone of the same sex as they would to someone of a different gender.

For example. Emily still refers to my character as male even though she's female

I've recently played a game were your character gets different genders based on class, but the game doesn't actually acknowledge that in any way. The game doesn't have relationships so it doesn't really matter, but in cases where a distinction would be required, they wouldn't do it and instead just go with a male version. Including some rather dumb quests where even the writing itself would have required some changes.

In fact, I was literally "WTF?" when a NPC actually addressed my sorceress as "lady knight". And that wasn't even a major quest or anything, just a random NPC... so it seems that game actually HAS the ability to give different texts to different players, it's just not being used. Whether they could adjust the flow of a quest -- I don't know, but those couple of dumb quests, they could at least come up with some different writing to fill into the same boxes.

It just doesn't seem to be a common thing to do, adjusting texts.

My Time at Portia is a mixed bag a lot of aspects of the game feel rushed or as though features have been added on last minute or not polished enough

I'd say that for a game out of China, it's shocking that it was allowed at all. The Chinese government is a tad homophobic. More so than the American government...

I'm gonna to take a wild guess and say that the govt had something to do with the scripting like it is.
"You can have gay romance, but your character can't actually acknowledge it" type thing...

I dunno which country is worse for homophobia, but US is trying it's hardest to be the garbage fire of homophobia.

The publisher of MTAP is not Chinese however so the situation with that is a little different.

It's not that the US is trying to be a garbage fire, it's some of the politician's and narrow minded people that like to fuel fires.

In both Portia and Sandrock, players can romance npcs regardless of gender. There's been no indication that any of that should change.

I think they meant Albert. Xu is the doctor. Albert is the guy that flirts with all the girls
