It's entirely doable to have a more realistic day/month system, but making sure it's the same each time is a lot quicker and easier.
To actually have a four month year would mean an orbit about a third bigger than Mercury (around 40 million miles) and things would be a bit warm at that point!

They had a 12 month game structure previously?
Not sure if I like that. I kind of like the season based stardew model.
I suppose if they had it, it could maybe be an option for people who want to select it when creating a new game, though since there's no limit (like stardew) a 12 month thing would only extend things.
I get the 28 day thing as I'm done with my data disk submissions on 28/3/00, it might be boring for more casual players to have unlocked everything in spring/summer
