My Time at Portia

My Time at Portia

The Portia bridge (when is it finished)
So I handed in the last commission from the commission board for the desert bridge. I finished two of the bridge parts commissions and two of the preceding commissions too (build steel frames vanished before I got a chance to do it as did two of the bridge parts commissions) when I handed in the last parts (beam and tower) commission I got a bunch of social boosts, not just a A&G boost like the other quests gave me.
Does it finish overnight? Or is the entire quest (and the rest of the game) now bugged? The quest "the portia bridge" shows up as a completed quest.
I was worried about this when I heard about it and backed up save files, though the oldest save file may have been when the steel frame request was already gone.

Does it construct overnight? Or am I going to have to lose 15 (ish) hours of gameplay, look for an inventory editor program that works and is virus free and make the bridge, as well as have to redo a bunch of social quests, etc. I hope that's not the case. Does anyone know any more regarding this?

Will do. I'm just really worried that it is bugged as some of the commissions vanished off the board.
I'll make a save back up in case I need to return to this point.
It's just such a major thing and hearing about the bug has me a bit on edge. I've been loving the game thus far.

I wasn't effected by the bug, thank goodness. But I didn't get all of the commissions every time .. I don't even bother to try so .. LOL It worked for me, it just took time.

Do you know how much time, approximately?
I'm probably over-worrying about this though I know one of the bug triggers is simply not finishing all the commissions. I gave it a night and nothing happened. Though I'll give it time as you said. Maybe something will be announced at the Sunday fireside and the bridge will appear on Monday.

It would be excellent if a stickied ("no complaining, contributions only") thread could be put up that way people who have the bug can put their info into one thread and people who had the bug, thought they had the bug or have a workaround can post to it.
The thread I saw yesterday had a poster saying this had been going on for a (RL) year and the developers seemed just as puzzled as the players. He may have been very frustrated (which is understandable) and exaggerating but it got me really worried.

I hope you're right and it does appear after some time. I'll definitely keep this thread updated and let you know if it appears after the fireside meeting on Sunday (which I guess may be a trigger for it, maybe?).

Either way I'll try to not let it ruin my experience. I still have a bunch of things to do (a tree farm to fix, a crane to build) and hopefully new quests keep coming in.

I wish I could tell you how many days, but I honestly never payed that much attention. For all my 1,000+ hours and one RL year playing, they have been very casual play times. I only realized that there were little men banging on the bridge when I found Albert, Gust and mint all watching them. But I am pretty sure in ALL my saves I have NEVER gotten ALL of the bridge commissions. I ALWAYS missed at least 2. Now it seems to ME that if you miss commissions, the bridge will take longer than if you do NOT miss commissions. So it may be a game week or even two for all I know.

The downside to my being a casual player, I suppose. Sorry.

That's excellent to hear and it's great to know you're still enjoying this game after 1000+ hours.
I'll give it some time and focus on getting another land upgrade (the coop, shed and factory items have 3/4 of my land used up) as well as the quests I need to do.
The fact that you've done at least one (and probably more) playthroughs without completing all the bridge commissions does give me hope.
I'll probably report back tomorrow as I'm going to be watching a bit of TV then sleeping.
Thanks for the help and if anyone else knows any more, I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences and will definitely check back here before going to sleep.

heheh I have 5 saves and in NONE of them did I get ALL the commissions LOL. It usually takes me at least one year to even get to Number One position and I don't compete with Higgins. He's not worth it to me LOL.

Sleep well. Dram better and good luck. I'll hope for the best for ya!

I can confirm that - while I tried to get all commissions done dealing with the bridge...I missed two of them because Higgins was simply "quicker"...
In this case - quicker means...I did 3, while he did one & I even had to produce a lot of stuff as I didn't preproduce at this time...
So - there shouldn't be any harm in not doing all commissions on your own...

Just to update. Two days after getting the last commission complete I got a bunch of letters regarding the bridge, all saying that it had been finished.
I went to check in the bridge and it's been finished.
This took two nights after finishing the last commission.
I got all the first commissions (lights, etc) except for steel frames (didn't have the workshop output at that point) and only finished two of the bridge parts commissions.
I never failed any commissions by letting them time out after accepting them; I only take jobs I know I can handle. Maybe letting the quest fail by timeout is the bug trigger?
I'm so happy the quest went smoothly, I was so bothered by the idea I might be locked with the bridge never being finished that I was tempted to wait for more updates.
Either way I'm really looking forward to doing more exploration and appreciate all the help that was given.

Hopefully, if searched for this will help people who are worried that the bridge will never appear and let them know when they should expect it (though maybe it happened quickly for me, who knows) and how much work I put into it.

I hope this thread can be a help to others and not just me.

I wish there was a "no bump" option. I hate feeling like I'm bumping my thread when replying.
It's a huge relief for me. I had seen reports on the forum and the wiki and it really pulled me away from enjoying the game. I'm back to enjoying things now. Getting the (nmn crane ready and then going to put a Dee Dee stop at the other side of the https://www.infopackets.com/news/9947/how-fix-windows-10-black-border-shrinking-screen-using-display-frequency (though I hear there's a quest for that, possibly at the fireside meeting, which is in 2 days time) in the meantime I'll focus on quests and commissions, get the 30k land upgrade, maybe build myself a stables (have a shed with 4 calves and 4 sheep and a coop) and buy a mount (renting one for the horse festival made one seem very worthwhile and as the map expands, so does my need to move quickly) so I'll keep on keeping on.
Really glad to know everything is working
