Fishing Event as a New Player!

There are some glaring issue's with this event from a New Game experience...
Its the first event you experience in a new game and its simply too expensive!
"Why does it cost 200 to participate?"
Plus you have to provide Bait which is expensive and ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD!!!
Why isnt anyone selling bait at the event?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So my first experience with this day 1... I got to fish once and ran out of bait midway thru,
I expected the event would provide the bait that it wouldnt be using my own bait....
Had NO IDEA that I payed a 200 Gols Participation Fee

had No idea all those fish I caught didnt actually pay me for catching them either?!?!?

Next day I went too the ranch and bout bait left myself with 150 gols leftover ran back to the event and couldnt afford the entry?!?

Ran into town and sold some stuff to get more money ran back to the event and this time had enough bait to complete it once! However found myself with a new issue.....

all my rewards were on the ground... I had to figure out how to pick them up because I have a small new player inventory and all the fish types caught plus the rewards is alot of new player slots....

Basically this whole thing is really out of whack for the first event a player takes part in on a fresh game... If its an old game sure its fine you can throw Gols away you have all kinds of inventory etc.... and also if its an old game you have a master rod and the event is no challenge the only time the event is a challenge is when you CANT EVEN afford to take part in it....

I really think the event needs to be balanced better for a fresh game or it should be moved latter in the time line of the game!

Why take away the Money reward from the fish you catch???
Why make the player pay an entry fee that isnt even advertised inside of the game...
Nowhere in the game does it tell you your spending 200 gol to partake!!!
And why isnt there someone at the event selling bait???

What I would do to balance things out....
A) Have a vendor on sight selling Catepillars at a discount compared to the normal price at sophie's ranch it a one time a year thing so what would be so bad about a discount...
B) Have a Vendor on sight buying fish!
C) Gift a new player participating in the event for the first time some extra inventory space via a dialoge with someone at the event....

I had no idea it cost to participate, I never noticed it taking gol from me, but I was able to do the event just fine. I could afford to buy plenty of bait from Sophie, and I had the beginner inventory as well, which was enough room for me. I don't keep much on me in the game except my tools, data discs, caterpillars, power stones, and maybe one or two random items.

And yes, this is from a 'New Game' experience.


I do agree that it would be nice to have a caterpillar stand though at the event itself.

I don't remember having to pay to take part in any of the events so far.
Aside maybe from buying more caterpillars - money that is very easy to get back by selling the fish caught in the tournament.
And yes I started the fishing competition as a new player after the recent update. I won twice on day one, made second place twice on day two with the starter equipment.

I agree that there should be an option to buy more bait at the event site. Maybe even the option to buy a fishing rod.

I think caterpillars can be added to fishing day shop. That would make it much better for new players. Also maybe add notice about money required to participate in competition to mail?

And please remove papa bear from competition or change his script to the same as other NPCs. He's catching golden salmons and blade fishes too often while player gets catfishes. He's almost impossible to beat in 1st year. If he was created as some kind of joke, then it's not fun, it's frustrating for beginners.

Also could you remove range penalty during fishing day? Player has to stand next to fishing spot to catch fish faster and if papa bear position is at fishing spot too, his paws are flashing at screen constantly. I don't know about others, but that gave me headache after 1 minute.

Seriously, that character alone ruins entire fishing day event.
