To use the Wiki or not use the Wiki? That is the question!
Hi guys!

Just wondering about your play styles. Do you use the Wiki or would rather stay away from it?

I personally use it for different things (gifts, where to find materials, how to get achievements, previous/missed dialogue), but try to stay away from spoilers. It's almost always impossible, though... I've definitely come across more than a few, but I think there's still a lot to discover regardless.

Curious about your answers!

Use it. Number one, I do not have the capacity to remember all the likes and dislikes of the characters. As far as spoilers go....I honestly never understood why people think they're a big deal. I can still enjoy the game/movie/book/etc knowing how it ends in advance. Knowing the end doesn't detract from the journey for me. But I respect the wishes of others to avoid them as best as I can.

I didn't find a lot of spoilers in what i checked in the wiki (mostly the things you mention), but they probably exist, yes (i try to stop reading at things i find could contain spoilers).

I started out without but...at some point began using it. As mentioned above for things i cant possibly remember. Or get one central overview about others, e.g. farmcrops, or fish prices.
While i also dont like spoilers about stories in a game where character progression and relation is a huge part of the game- i also wont rememebr for the heck of it which resources i need to keep in my inventory to finally build the chicken coop. So before i run for and back 2-3 times-> Wiki :D
The fandom one is made well, so far i found it complete and up to date. (Way more so than our guides section here)

Portia is one of the games where the developers failed to explain their game in the game. The Wiki is pretty much a requirement :-(

They did a pretty good job. It's just that there's too much for many people to retain. Most of the info on the Wiki was obtained through gameplay, after all. You learn characters' gift likes and dislikes through trial and error, for example. Which is perfectly reasonable, but the game makes it clear what the character thinks of the gift when you give it.

I don't use the wiki, mainly because those sites run terribly. But i do make use of some of the guides here on steam. Particularly the gift one.

I'll sometimes use google to help my find a resource I can't locate. But I never need to actually go to the suggested links, since the answer is usually visible on the google search.

I’m doing a play through at the moment trying to get a lot of the achievements I’ve missed which are mainly the social ones like lots of friends get married have kids blah blah so I did use the wiki so I knew what people like annoyingly the best present for most seemed to be roses but you can only buy 1 a day

Out of curiosity, why do you say they're run terribly? Seem to work just fine to me.

The popups and advertising on the wikis often cause the page to crash and/or get flagged by my virus checkers. At the minimal it causes the page to hang loading until all the extra non-wiki stuff does.

Ah, don't encounter that with my ad blockers. ;p

i definitely use the wiki. i'm the type of person who goes looking for spoilers, so avoiding them isn't an issue for me. i also juggle different types of farming sim-esque games, and i can't remember all the little details for each, especially since i take long breaks between gaming sometimes. thank you, wiki creators! lol :P

Thanks! A lot of drive-by editors have helped improve the Portia wiki[mytimeatportia.fandom.com] over the years, and there's a few dedicated members that have helped keep the wiki up-to-date, including me and JVC (who also often helps answer things on the Steam forums).

We (the current main wiki team) are already working on setting up what we can for the Sandrock wiki[mytimeatsandrock.fandom.com] so there's a nice skeleton to fill out after the NDA ends and Early Access starts, though we're just a handful of people strong and would greatly appreciate whatever help we can get from the rest of the community towards filling out and improving the My Time wikis! We have a My Time Wiki Discord server[mytimeatportia.fandom.com] to help editors and players out. :necroheart:

And we (Pathea) are keeping an eye out for feedback on areas that need to be improved, especially after Sandrock releases in Early Access, so please let us know here, on the Pathea Discord[discord.gg], or at qa@pathea.net if you later encounter things in the game that are frustrating!

Personally, remembering all the various character's likes and dislikes is way beyond me.

So, yeah, I'll use the wiki for things like that.

heres an improvement idea, make sure all the voice acting is done and included. Theres still quite a few unvoiced scenes in Portia.

Glad that people find the wiki useful. It means a lot to all of those that contributed to it :)
