Wall lamp backwards

Ok, this is a weird one. I wanted to put a couple of wall lamps in my house for defense, but every time I try they are backwards (not facing the wall). I have no option to rotate and no matter where I try to place them. I don't get the green grid space that indicates a place tht's free, despite the fact I cleared an entire wall hoping that might fix the problem. Is this a new glitch? I think I've hung them before on other playthroughs, though that may have been a wall light. Any ideas?

It's probably not new to this last patch, there have been some glitches with walls for a while. I've had some wall items appear kind of halfway inside the wall before, the only way I knew was because I could see parts of the item through the wall.

I think it might have to do with house upgrades because everything worked fine initially, it was only after I upgraded my house that things started working oddly.

Thankfully it hasn't happened to me since then, though admittedly I haven't really put many more items on the wall for a while.

I noticed this as well. There is one section of the wall to the right of the door that will not accept any wall hanging (basic house). I could swear in a previous play through I had lights outside but nothing will hang on the house.
