And no, it generally makes no sense to try and build a game that can use fully developed characters from some other game, as well as providing a good experience for new players.
Also, it even "happens" in games where you're actually playing the same character(s) in different games. Ever wondered why Lara Croft only ever sets of with no skills and basic gear?
It's rarely mentioned in game, but here's an example where they actually did it: Neptunia Re;Birth3: Back to level 1?!
Since in the 'My Time' series the main characters are builders, maybe the main character from Portia could have sort of a market booth once a month in Sandrock - a bit like the mysterious merchant.
Here are some examples:
1. Main Character of Dragon Age 2 showing up in DA: Inquisition.
2. Maverick (Not even the name I picked for him in WC) Main Character of Wing Commander 1-4 showing up in WC Prophecy (actually I don't have a big problem with this as the FMV (Full Motion Video) aspects of WC 3 and 4 innurred me to the loss of my character from 1 and 2.
3. Sims 4: Anyone of my created Sims showing up in a place because they were randomely picked by the Game Engine....NO She is a High Class Snob....Why is She in the Bowling Alley? I hate this most of all.
I am sure there are more, but I can't think of any. I am just saying it doesn't really always turn out good.
I just realized .. Mint is NOT from Sandrock. He's from Vega 5
Whether we can reuse our character model from MTAP in the new game, they haven't finished examining if that would be possible.
I've decided I will probably create a new character for Sandrock for exactly the reason that it overlaps the time at Portia.
