Play Date
How do these work exactly? I am at a loss. I thought when you went on a play date blue symbols showed up on your map showing you where you could go, I did not get any symbols on my map so my play date was a failure because I didn't know where to go or what to do!

I don't remember whether it was marked on the map; check out
https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/Play_and_Date#Events

My personal round was:

  • Doodle in the Sand
  • Doodle in the Sand
  • Seesaw
  • Seesaw
  • Chitchat under the Wishing Tree
  • Chitchat under the Wishing Tree (don't remember whether I had to burn 1 or 2 points at the end...)

How many options show might depend on the timing of the date - if it is too late in the evening some options don't show up anymore.
(Also some attractions only show after you built them, like the ghost cave on amber island and the ballon rides).

My play date was with Ginger and she is only available late night so most things were shut, I think only the Wishing Tree was available but Ginger moves very slowly and I have only just realise I can use my horse.
So you can go to more than one place on your play date?
I just don't understand play dates :(:(:(.
This was only my second play date, (the first in this play through) .
Is there a 'Play Dates For Dummies' anywhere :):):) .

As soon as the blue circle shows go to the date meeting spot - better be too early than too late and start the date as soon as your partner arrives.

As you already found out, you can use the horse to get everywhere faster.

Basically you have action points for your playdates. Until those are used up, time on the date runs out or you talk to your date to request to end the date, the date keeps going. So you can go to more than just one place.

Ginger's dating times are both late in the evening, so better chose the earlier one, so you can take her to the Round table.

The Round table is nice for a date because you can spend all the action points in the play room (as long as you have enough money for the games there) and win medals on the side while impressing your date.

Dining at the Round table is a bit of a gamble - sometimes your date will tell you exactly what they want to eat - in that case quickly note all 5 dishes down and order exactly that - or they will be very vague.
In that case you may want to consult the wiki what the charas like and hate. Some dishes are not available in all seasons though. Anyway order 5 dishes, one of them should be a drink and hope your date likes them. Else it is small talk and if you have, you can give your date a present.
Eating a meal will recover some stamnia on the side.

The easiest place to go for a date is the bench at the wishing tree, even better if you have a present prepared to give.

On Amber Island you can go into the ghost cave for a fee, draw in the sand (minigame) or do a fireworks display (you need the firework items, option is only available in a clear night).

In town you can play two more minigames during daytime - swings and seesaw, they need some practice to get right.

There will be other date options unlocked later - once you built them, you successfully gave the heartknot to someone or got married.

Thank you, that makes it much clearer.
I got to Ginger late so the Round Table was shut, and as I didn't know about the horse then reaching anywhere else seemed impossible because Ginger is very slow.
