If you want to actually SELL something (as opposed to handing in a quest/"commission" item), you have to find the NPC that buys this kind of stuff. Prices will change over time, going up and down, so if you want to find a good day, watch the % value.

Probably the furniture store. In the central plaza, next to the clothing and tool shops.

The furniture store has the really tall, muscular man. It's near the plaza that has the tree in the middle of it.

Also A&G constructions and Total Tools will buy stone stools, later you can unlock more shops that might buy furniture, ores and constructed items.
