Higgins is a cheater!
I know he's not super hard to beat for top place, and I think he should be allowed access to all commission posts(dunno about story commissions). I also get the Dev's have more important priorities.

With that all being said, whenever Higgins takes any of the big commissions I don't wanna see his face back in line the next day. Unless hes hiding a factory farm for delicate fur and and a personal mine in the basement of his tiny house theres no way he should be completing that in a day.

Or maybe this is part of a future update, where we uncover that Higgins is making the children of Portia slave away in his mines and that hes actually in league with the bad guys in the dungeons and thats why he has such easy access to components. He paid off the mayor to keep quiet, and keeps his ranking lower to remain unsuspicious, your character and Mei have to go undercover to figure this out. THIS MONSTER HAS TO BE STOPPED!

LoL. He is pretty resourceful to say the least. I always get to the guild at 8 sharp to check the board before he can choose his commission.

Same here, he never beats me to that post. Later on from year 4 onwards you can't afford to if you want to stay ahead of him (especially when you've finished the current questline)

I do to, but whenever I see the word "Conveyor Belt" I turn into one of the robot hosts from the TV show West World and say "Doesn't look like anything to me".

That commission is crazy difficult to complete. The amount of delicate fur need is just…

I don’t know if it will work, if you could test it would be appreciated, but usually when a commission I don’t want to do for any reason is up and I don’t want Higgins to do it too I let him choose first. I found that he doesn’t take the “best” commission if he goes first. If you go first he will take it.

I always thought it was random, but you could very well be right, I'll give it a try next time I play.

I will go in and pick the commission that I want and then I hold the next highest experience one in my hand until he selects one of the two lower commissions that are left. He won't take a commission that you are holding even if you can't accept it because of accepting one already. I've even restarted the day if I mess up and don't get them grabbed fast enough. :)

Hmm I'll have to give this a go, my memory could be incorrect but i thought i remember him taking it even when i was looking at one.

I have made this arguement before

The rats and other monsters who do the city harm are actually freedom fighters trying to liberate their brethern from the monsterously cruel abuse suffered at higgins hands

Higgins is evil

That makes me hope there is a questline in the future where he will become nice or stay the same depending on the choices you make.

Maybe gifting him one of your golden trophies, or you two get stranded somewhere and have to build your way out and become friends through adversity and gain respect for each other.

Hate him, hate him, HATE him. I've not trusted the snivling little weasle since the first day I saw him.
Think I'll go back in game and give him another kicking just for good measure. lol

Even if he does "get friendly" I wouldn't trust him, probably stab you in the back at the first oppertunity, lol

I always loathe these kinds of situations, and it sounds to me like something the devs need to address and nip in the bud now. For starters, it'll encourage people like myself to wanna cheat back in whatever way possible, and that's hardly the attitude to inspire in your players.

I'd never sink to his level, lol

We should be allowed to feed him to the fishes.
Pull a deal with the thugs and double cross and have them blamed for it.
Put their heads on spikes and take credit for figuring out the murder, winning the vote for mayor.

Game turns into Mount and blade.
At the end of the last bloody fight I set as High King with my last remaining friends at my side.
