BIg metal thing underground?

Does anyone know what the big underground structure things are in the abandoned ruin 1? They have a health bar and multiple parts that when the red bar goes to 0 it gets destroyed but nothing drops. Is this just for decoration or does this have a purpose?

It does give you drops though. I got some rusted pipes from it (which are apparently useless weapons, not sure if it does anything else). Aside from a portion of it, I've never fully salvaged that thing though so can't say for sure.

They drop stuff. I have gotten bricks that way

Dig under neath those structures, like all the way to the bottom. Use your scanner, usally you'll find abandoned rooms under these things.

If you mine them out you can get Copper and Bronze pipes, Iron ingots and rusty pipes from one type and hardened clay and stone bricks from another.

Rusted Iron Pipes are used for one crafting item in a quest - you should keep at least 2 of them in storage for later use.

I have gotten bricks and hardened clay from a few. Cannot remember which ruin I was in, I think the second one.

Hi all :)

In addition to the above, I've rec'd. strengthened glass previously, from structures appearing to have such, but not lately, since they added in the products "falling" mechanic.

Upon further digging, I encountered an abandoned room in which I found 2 sofas for my home! In addition to some other crafting materials.

The only thing those are good for is making Lara for Ack, she only requires 1, but save 2 so that you can make 2 of her (1 for Ack & 1 for the museum)
