Where do birthday gifts show up?

So, it's finally my birthday (winter, year 1) and I came out of my house to a huge crowd of people.
I could talk to them and the "talk" option caused them to walk off
Checked my mailbox. It's empty. Did I get unlucky or something?
I've about 8 buddies, 3 friends and 1 soulmate.
Do they give gifts or just throw a party outside your house?

They lay gifts outside of your front fence. Then they back away a bit, then go away whether you talk to them or not.

hehehehehe No biggie. I have two saves where Winter 1 is a wedding anniversary but not a birthday LOL

I forgot it was my first birthday in Portia. I walked out of the house and wondered why all of the townspeople were running towards my gate!! It's pretty cool, even though I just immediately gifted back many of the gifts 😁
