Newbie needs help! Please?! ^_^
Hey all, assuming someone sees this (hopefully) I have a few questions about the game I just got, My Time At Portia. Because I am so new to the game, some of the questions will probably seem a little basic or silly, so forgive me. I'll list the questions in a numbered list and if you see one you can answer just reply with the number & answer. Thanks in advance!

1. How do you sell things in your inventory and CAN you sell things in your inventory? Like things such as rocks and plant fiber and wood or whatever. I just started the game as I said so I need to make some quick gols. (money) as I barely have any at all.

2. The game seems incredibly slow. Could this be due to the type of laptop I have (it's new but it's not a special gaming computer just a regular Windows 10 laptop. I know It's a slower game but it's almost frustrating how slow it is.

3. Is there a way to get a llama or other animal to be your pet and or ride it?? I tried to get a Colorful Llama and ended up accidentally murdering it for it's meat and fur cause I didn't know what I was doing.. -_- hah I feel awful.

I'll edit the post as I think of other questions I have. Thanks.

1. There's no shipping bin, if you're familiar with games like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon, so if you want to sell things, go directly to other NPC's shops. If you want to sell rocks and plant fiber, try Paulie's Shop or Mars' shop, they're over at the Central Plaza (the area with the big tree on the right side of town).

2. When you say slow, do you mean the game is running slow, like lag? Or that time seems to pass slow? You could try lowering the graphics settings, and see if that helps. MTaP isn't exactly the most well-optimized game, so it can lag badly on the highest settings.

3. You can, but... okay, behind your workshop, do you see like... a "ghost" outline that probably says "Insufficient materials" above it? That's a trap box point. When you unlock Trap Boxes, you can place one and use bait to lure in a Llama. The basic trap will catch a normal colorful llama, and the advanced one you get even later will catch cotton llamas.

Don't feel bad about murdering the wild llamas. That's all they're good for, as the trap doesn't actually lure and trap THOSE in, it just causes one to appear the next morning in the trap. (hopefully)

Money is a bit of a thing early on, but once you unlock Fishing, fishing is a great way to jump-start your funds. You can by "Worms" as bait from Sophie's shop, inside her ranch, and even the cheapest fish will resell for more than the cost of bait, while the best normal fish can sell for hundreds of Gols apiece.
Don't be afraid to spend some Gols to unlock inventory slots, and also build a ton of Wooden Storage chests to help manage your items! Better to keep stuff you'll need later, than to sell them off for tiny amounts.

1. I'd avoid selling building materials like stone and plant fiber, you'll soon need this for building things. You can get some gols early in the game by exploring the town and local area for chests, there are some easy to find ones hidden around/on buildings in the town. Also accept all the quests you can, but as the other person said, once you get the fishing rod that's one of the best ways to make money.

2. It's hard to say without knowing your laptop's specifications or the FPS you're running at, but yeah, do try lowering the graphics settings if you haven't already.

3. Aside from the llama which the previous responder covered, you can rent or buy a horse at McDonald's farm but you need to take the quest to repair his stable first. After that you can visit his stable to rent a horse for a week for 500 Gols, or buy one outright for 10k or 15k Gols, but you'll also need to build a stable at your workshop to be able to own llamas or horses.

There's also a series of quests quite early in the game to build a transport system including bus stops which act as fast travel points, but you're limited to fast travelling between the bus stops you've placed so it's nice to have a horse as well for getting to locations that aren't near a bus stop.

My laptop is a lot like yours. SLOW AF ... but I've gotten used to it, as shown by my 1000+ hours played LOL. Lately it's also started overheating so my days of playing MAY be coming to an end :-(

Considering the Let's Plays I see, I think I would hate it at "normal" speed. I've gotten so used to the casual slow run of my characters LOL/

If you need some fast gols at the beginning, go on a treasure chest hunt. There are three that have enough gols to get you started. Look on rooftops, along the city walls, and around the outlying buildings. Do not sell your resources (stone etc.. until you figure out what you need).

You can also build a fishing rod as soon as you have enough materials to smelt a copper bar. It can be tricky at first, keep the white bubble on the fish and reel it in with short clicks, but there is no time limit once you hook it, so dont hurry. Fishing is still the fastest way to make money in the early game.

For a laptop, absolutely turn off rain/snow, and the grass in the options. My laptop still lags sometimes, but it's only game-breaking if I leave those on. Also check to see what other programs you have running in the background, as those can slow down your game as well.

Check the civil corps building for an alternative to cute llama hunting. It will cost you though.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all. I really do appreciate all the advice and feedback. Will try all these different things & if I'm still having trouble, I'll report back! <3

Hope you have fun and welcome to Portia :)

A last bit of advice: in the early game it is really easy to run out of wood while having a ton of stone from mining in the Abandoned Ruins. If you check the store inside A&G Constructions, you can exchange some of that excess stone for wood, so you solve two problems in one go.

The cemetary is a pretty good source of wood, seems the bushes regrow every other day so it's easy to gather and close by to the abandoned ruins so it's a quick and fairly easy detour while going to mine to get some wood :)
