2. When you say slow, do you mean the game is running slow, like lag? Or that time seems to pass slow? You could try lowering the graphics settings, and see if that helps. MTaP isn't exactly the most well-optimized game, so it can lag badly on the highest settings.
3. You can, but... okay, behind your workshop, do you see like... a "ghost" outline that probably says "Insufficient materials" above it? That's a trap box point. When you unlock Trap Boxes, you can place one and use bait to lure in a Llama. The basic trap will catch a normal colorful llama, and the advanced one you get even later will catch cotton llamas.
Don't feel bad about murdering the wild llamas. That's all they're good for, as the trap doesn't actually lure and trap THOSE in, it just causes one to appear the next morning in the trap. (hopefully)
Money is a bit of a thing early on, but once you unlock Fishing, fishing is a great way to jump-start your funds. You can by "Worms" as bait from Sophie's shop, inside her ranch, and even the cheapest fish will resell for more than the cost of bait, while the best normal fish can sell for hundreds of Gols apiece.
Don't be afraid to spend some Gols to unlock inventory slots, and also build a ton of Wooden Storage chests to help manage your items! Better to keep stuff you'll need later, than to sell them off for tiny amounts.
2. It's hard to say without knowing your laptop's specifications or the FPS you're running at, but yeah, do try lowering the graphics settings if you haven't already.
3. Aside from the llama which the previous responder covered, you can rent or buy a horse at McDonald's farm but you need to take the quest to repair his stable first. After that you can visit his stable to rent a horse for a week for 500 Gols, or buy one outright for 10k or 15k Gols, but you'll also need to build a stable at your workshop to be able to own llamas or horses.
There's also a series of quests quite early in the game to build a transport system including bus stops which act as fast travel points, but you're limited to fast travelling between the bus stops you've placed so it's nice to have a horse as well for getting to locations that aren't near a bus stop.
My laptop is a lot like yours. SLOW AF ... but I've gotten used to it, as shown by my 1000+ hours played LOL. Lately it's also started overheating so my days of playing MAY be coming to an end :-(
Considering the Let's Plays I see, I think I would hate it at "normal" speed. I've gotten so used to the casual slow run of my characters LOL/
You can also build a fishing rod as soon as you have enough materials to smelt a copper bar. It can be tricky at first, keep the white bubble on the fish and reel it in with short clicks, but there is no time limit once you hook it, so dont hurry. Fishing is still the fastest way to make money in the early game.
For a laptop, absolutely turn off rain/snow, and the grass in the options. My laptop still lags sometimes, but it's only game-breaking if I leave those on. Also check to see what other programs you have running in the background, as those can slow down your game as well.
Check the civil corps building for an alternative to cute llama hunting. It will cost you though.
A last bit of advice: in the early game it is really easy to run out of wood while having a ton of stone from mining in the Abandoned Ruins. If you check the store inside A&G Constructions, you can exchange some of that excess stone for wood, so you solve two problems in one go.
