The romance disparity.
I've pretty much solidified my opinion that Aadit is the red-headed step child of the marriage candidates. His dialogue barely changes even after fixing the Tree Farm, he had no events to be seen that were romantic in nature, and even after being married the reward for him finally being romantic didn't really feel like a good enough consolation for the bland lead up.

Yes, the spoiler with him happens so it makes sense he's not as developed, but it bothers me a lot that he just kind of is /there/ and nothing more. He has no perks if you befriend him or romance him beyond the husband perk, he has no events (unless those were bugged) and his dialogue from 1-Heart through to max was the same 5 stock lines... Why was he even an option as a romance if he just seems to be a last second addition?

This is an issue I have with a lot of the other romance candidates as well. Some of them just aren't as developed as others and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sure most of them aren't near the level of Aadit but some candidates legit have more events and varied dialogue rather than all holding a similar average to make things a bit more even.

So my question is this developers, are you going to add more events for the romance candidates that just seem to exist to pad out the numbers? I saw you added more events post release but they were for fairly popular characters. Will you continue to add content? Or are some candidates just SOL?

You could say the same about a number of the "friends" you get in the game. Some of the characters (*cough* Abu *cough*) don't even have a "friend" status listed even if you give them gifts and talk to them, so there's really no point socializing with them at all.
I hope this gets fixed at a later date. For a game where socializing is half the fun, it's disappointing that there's a clear amount of NPC's that just aren't worth bothering with.

Yeah I sure hope they'll add some stuff for Petra and Aadit, they have some importance in the story (kinda) but when it comes to the romance, there is nothing. And that's just sad, I personally would have wanted to romance them in my next plays.

1. I LOVE the ones with no perks LOL
2. I am on a save romancing Aadit .. so I can be married and then have my damn house back!

I just feel like Aadit is just an afterthought.

I've only been playing the game for a couple of months (in-game time, mind you) and Aadit just... doesn't want to do anything other than stand outside the tree farm. He didn't even show up for the Sunlight Festival or the Martial Arts Tournament (and I'm pretty sure he won't show up for any of the events in the game at all). You'd think a foreigner would be much more interested in learning more about the new culture he's in than just stand by the tree farm. What's more is that once you marry Aadit he pretty much leaves forever anyway which I feel is a huge cop-out.

I REALLY hope they plan on polishing up Aadit so he's an actual person and not an afterthought. He seems to be a great, gentle person that is screwed by bad writing or lack thereof.

I think Aadit is some retired assassin or something and the pacifist thing is just a cover to keep enemies away from Portia, but then something worrisome happens and he doesn't want bad guys from Duvos torturing Portians to drive them out. It would have been cool if they developed him into something like that.

He perfectly fits that 'retired assassin' trope wanting redemption from his old life and wanting a peaceful retirement, but some outside element pulls him back in.

I honestly won't mind if such content, if needed for spoilers, gets rolled into the expansion

I'd happily pay for it at this point. Yes it would be nice if it was in the base game but if the cut content was rolled into extra stuff for an expansion that gave us more story I wouldn't complain at all.

I miss Rune Factory 4, the NPCs had a LOT more dialogue compared to this

Agreed... Even the last Story of Seasons (Harvest Moon, except Natsume lost the rights so XSEED has changed the name due to legal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) had more consistent dialogue. Yes it's nice the NPC's all react to the MSQ, I loved that, but once you get those one time flavour texts it's just... Not that much? After having Rune Factory and especially Stardew Valley spoiling us with dialogue it feels kinda empty.

Personally, I think there should be some sort of parity of benefits between all marriage candidates.

I think it would also be nice if there were one or two more female marriage candidates. Even if you count the Hulu brothers as only one, there are still 13 males and only 10 females (Merlin gets listed among the marrige candidates, but she doesn't really count, for reasons which are revealed during game play).

Although I will say, that I apprecieate the fact that none of the marriage candidates seem like children. They all act like actual adults (unlike some of the candidates in say, Stardew Valley, about half of whom seem too young to be considering marriage to anyone).

What happens with Merlin?

She decides that "dating" and "romance" aren't worth the time. She'd rather be doing research, and pushing the boundaries of science. Following her decision, she becomes a non-marriageable candidate.

We need to get a Merlin DLC where we teach her how to properly have a sexual interaction with someone. For science, of course.

Can’t wait to see her call that “underwhelming” as well :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Not all marriage candidates are created equal however. Some just don't have any appeal at all.

There's someone for everyone. Personal opinion rule out.
