That would take you twice as long if you only kept the better furnace.
you are right Jack, but if I was going to do it, I would replace the stone with the industrial, so 3 stone furnaces would become 3 industrial furnaces, etc. A true replace, not 1 industrial to replace 3 stone. I would have to figure out how many power stones I get when I do the ruins, and make sure that I can keep them all running, but I do get a lot of power stones so it might be workable.
There aren't that many situations where this is the case, but still.
Like Civil Furnace compared to Industrial Furnace.
Industrial Furnace is better, but Civil Furnace can be used later to create the Fire Powered Generator.
There are other times when machines are used to make other machines, but they're usually direct upgrades themselves, like the Industrial Cutter being used to make the Comprehensive Cutter, so you wouldn't be left with the inferior version as a leftover.
A small tip if you don't know - exchange stone for wood at A&G (999 stone per 999 wood a day), and you'll never run out of fuel for your furnaces... or run out of wood at all. It was such a pain installing and fuelling a lot of furnaces before I read about the exchange; farming stone is trivial and wood - not so much. I'm running 20 civil furnaces and 2 industrial furnaces and I never ever have a shortage of wood using the stone -> wood strategy (not to mention, 3 of those civil furnaces are producing charcoal nonstop).
Once you get a decent axe, you can chop trees that give hardwood, and use your Worktable to turn 1 Hardwood into 5 Wood each.
And if you're chopping bigger and higher tier trees they usually give way more hardwood than anything.
Don't need hardwood in such huge amounts often, so turning them into regular wood to fuel stuff helps, too.
If I ever had extra stone lying around I liked turning it into junk like Stone Stools to sell for pocket change, lol.
However, if someone doesn't like fishing, keeping stones and converting hardwood into wood are certainly a viable option. (:
I personally enjoy fishing - it's very easy even with the basic rod, and it nets a lot of gols.
This is an awesome tip, thanks!
Personally I get most of my wood from the recipe that turns Hardwood to normal wood. I was swimming in Hardwood as the game went on.
Yeah that's not what McDonald tells me.
