Iron wood...?
I have my iron ax and have been cutting down all those big trees that needed the iron ax, but I have not got any iron wood yet. Please help!

Did you cut the stumps too?

Yeah, you tend to get more from the stumps although the trees themselves will occasionally drop one or two.

Ironwood comes from the really larger trees that leave stumps behind. The ones that have huge bases and fork up into multiple branches. Like the one the Mr. Ladybugs hang out around near your house.

If you have done Bassiano lift quest there are some light colored trees up there that give ironwood.

If you made it to the desert the cacti and poplar trees give a ton of ironwood. Otherwise you just have to grind it out of the really big stums as best you can

Those are the ones I am cutting but no iron wood.

Do they only come from the stumps? I have been leaving the stumps because it makes the trees grow back faster.

I need the wood for the lift.

If you seriously do NOT get ironwood from the stumps of the big trees, you may need to verify your files from the properties tab in the Steam library. The medium size trees, the ones that drop rubberfruit when you kick them, very rarely drop ironwood, and rarely from the stumps. The big big trees should ALWAYS drop at least one or two, and more from the stumps.

That is my experience as of two months ago - so unless they have made changes that I'm not yet aware of, that is how they should drop.

As I said I have not tried cutting the trunks, I did not know that's how you get the iron wood.

Just cut 3 big trees, stumps yielded 3-1-2 ironwood. I also cut 10 rubberfruit trees and they yielded 2 ironwood from their stumps. So it still works. However, I did not get a single ironwood from any of the trunks.

The stumps don't make the trees come back faster. I had absolutely no shortage of trees to cut down. They pretty much respawn each day.

A developer for the game said that leaving the stumps cause the trees to grow back faster. So yeah...

It is "safe" to cut the stumps as well. The trees still regrow. But it is possible that regrowth might be a bit slower, since you also take out the stumps.

If you've fixed the elevator, up the top there are trees that have a more grey-coloured trunk that drop quite a bit.

There are so many trees that this is pretty much irrelevant considering the stumps themselves yield resources anyway.

As I said I need the ironwood to fix it.
