How to beat Higgins in Spring, Year 1
Hi,

as the title says it. Higgins starts with 5250 Points. Is there any chance to beat him in the first Spring? I Rushed the issions up, build 5 DeeDee -Transports and yet he is 3000 points away. Also I noticed the 100 rep comissions didn't show up.

The reason others have done it before is because in EA his starting score was about half of what it is now. Which is why it got buffed. As the first response said, that's the point. What kind of rival is he if you can beat him in the 1st month and then just forever keep the spot?

You are not suppoused to beat him first month, that`s the idea behind his ultra high score.

Well, there is a mod on Nexus that allows you to except multiple commissions. That might do it.

Edit: But since you are obviously not supposed to beat him the first month, it might have adverse effects on the story flow of the game. Don't know.

If you know which story missions are coming up (the Dee-Dee Transport one is the most obvious), then you can build them ahead of time and finish it in the same day they appear. That way, you get more story commissions, and you earn more reward points.

Putting points into your Friendship tree (particularly the "Commerce Hot Shot" skill that increases your rep points by a maximum of 4) also helps. Giving Presley gifts also helps, but you need to get him to become your buddy in order to have any beneficial effects on the amount of rep points you receive (which might take a while; probably won't happen 'till middle of Month 1 at least).

But really, the most reliable source of rep points that I can think of is the story commissions. That, and also certain side quests offered by the NPCs (note that some side quests only reward money or items).

Before? When had like what points? The panbat mission on treefarm triggered after I have build the Assembly station lvl. 2. I planned before gathered my mats. But the end result was higgins has 2000 points more than me.

The rankings aren't mentioned in the story, I think it just effects the rewards at the end of the month.

To beat Higgins in a month you'd have to average about 200 rep points a day, which I think is only possible at the A and S ranks. I don't think it's possible without mods.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That is also because again, they buffed him. He used to be much more complacent and you could take weeks off at a time.
Ultimately, he doesn't need to be planned around, you just need to play the game and eventually you overtake him. IF you plan well you overtake him in summer easily. Bottomline is, you really do not miss out by not being #1 from your first month onwards and it keeps the illusion of a challenging adversary. Win win if you ask me.

Higgins has an established workshop that has been the most productive in Portia for a long time. It shouldn't be possible to over take that in a month. Honestly if anything the rating should be higher to reflect what a newcomer you are.

Or you can still beat him and the challenge is how fast it's possible to do it? It's not a question of realism (a word I never used), it's a question of internal consistency.

If it really bothers you there's a mod that lets you accept as many commissions as you want per day, you probably could average the rep points needed to get to number 1 in less than a month with that.

Also I've never seen an argument that claimed lowering a point requirement creates more of a challenge.

people just forgot "good old games" with bosses, missions, quests and stuff unwinnable by design.

no matter how hard you try and not matter what you do, you will fail, all you can do is accept failure and slowly get better.

IMHO, higgins should get 6k bonus each month, with absurd rewards for first place, that displayed to player, but not achivable, this is perfectly accurate, how you going to beat owner of top tier factory by shack and few furnaces made from stone stools?

it's just like opening motorcycle accembly in your garage (without any tools and machinery) and beat harley davidson, honda, kawasaki and suzuki combined in sells in first month...

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know we're still living in the 1990s.

Yeah, we're living in the days where someone's probably out there complaining that they can't overtake the top spot in the first week, because the want the extra "challenge".

You're still going on that nonsense even after the mods tell you to stop? The mods even deleted the previous posts, but here you are again, Mr. Troublemaker determined to stir s*** up because you want to prove something to me to sooth your own wounded ego. Good for you.

Reported. Good luck getting banned.

What in the world are you talking about?

Nothing. Don't bother replying, save yourself some trouble before you dig your grave even deeper and the mods see that you're still dragging this topic even further away for your own personal drama. But no, no, please do keep going. I want the mods to see just how obsessed you are arguing with me. Please do. That will most likely increase the chances of you being kicked out here forever.

So go on. Keep replying and arguing. I can't wait.

I think you have me confused with someone else, lol.

There's no mod post in this thread, and there certainly hasn't been anyone telling me to stop posting. If there *had* been, that would have been quite the feat of precognition, since the post that prompted you to wig out at me was my first post in this channel.

Also, insulting me over an obvious typo is just childish. Seriously. What is that supposed to accomplish?

I suggest you take a deep breath, and ask yourself why you're getting so hostile over a fairly innocuous post.

lol You're lecturing me on hostility, when you attacked me first and continued the argument?

Of course there's no mod post. What, you can't read either? I said the mod deleted the argument, an argument you have now continued.

So just stop, for everyone's sake, if not your own. You're embarrassing yourself, and you're wasting my time. Stop bothering me, stop bothering everyone (by bumping this topic up), stop trying to sooth your ego because I criticized your terrible spelling (which is terrible, you must admit; use a spellcheck for Christ's sake).

Just stop, and YOU take a breath.

Teh only won responsable for waste your time is ewe. ;)
