UnityPlayer.dll caused an Access Violation - Game crashes
The game has always worked fine for me - until the newest update.
It randomly crashes and I get an error message.

The error.log says, it's because "UnityPlayer.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module UnityPlayer.dll at 0033:5f0f5b70."

Any ideas on how to fix this - and is anyone else having this issue?

I also am too stupid to figure out how to send it to the devs directly, so if anyone can help me out with that too, I'd be quite happy.

This is just a generic Access Violation (0xc0000005) Thing:
* Reboot
* Except the game (files) from AV software (like WD)
* Be sure you don't have some folder (access) restriction (like Controlled Folder Access)
* Deactivate any OSD (like discord, gamebar,...)
* Don't run virtual desktops like citrix workspace.
* Update/Reinstall GPU driver(s) (be sure you don't have the Windows Basic Render Driver, not via Windows Update but via a download on the vendors website (Intel,AMD,Nvidia,...))

I have got the same problem. Bought the game a few days ago, I rarely get a day done without it crashing giving me exactly that in crash report.

Hello,thanks for your feedback! next time when system error happens again, do not relaunch , we need a file named output_log.txt in C:\Users\your name\AppData\LocalLow\Pathea Games\My Time at Portia, it will help us to find out what's going on and solve it. Please sent it to qa@pathea.net

I have done so just a few minutes after my last message over a week ago. May I ask if there are any results yet (causes of the crashes; possible fixes)?

Hi, our lead programmer just checked this report, he says this was the bug of unity itself, it has to wait for unity to fix it.
But before that, please make sure you don't install any mod or something like that.

First of all, I'm not a programmer and don't have any actual knowledge there, so please forgive me if I mention anything that makes no sense at all. I also appreciate your effort, so please don't take this as reproach.

When I tried several things to fix the crash issue, such as setting up my pc from scratch today, which sadly had no effect, I have come across the following in the crash log: " My Time at Portia [version: Unity 2017.4.14f1 (b28150134d55)] "
Seeing as Unity version 2019.2 is already released, wouldn't an updated version of Unity fix this issue and maybe even help in general?

What I also thought about is that if this issue I'm having is caused by Unity itself, why do I seem to be the only one or one out of a few that experiences this problem? Wouldn't that affect all players?

However, I'm thankful for your support, I'm just trying to understand the issue myself. I'm really caught by the gameplay and hope to continue it as soon as possible, which just isn't possible if you have to play the same day twice, 3 times or more to get it done without a crash.
Same problem here, since it saves when sleeping its pretty annoying to lose a day's work.

Other than updating Unity (which is something the programmer has to do, I believe) I haven't found a solution yet. Hopefully this will be resolved soon... hopefully? Maybe?

I wish I had a better answer for you than this, but...

I've played the game without issue a few times since I made the post. Between every time I had it completely removed from my computer.

So my best offer for a solution is a reinstall - also, some of the Portia mods can cause the error afaik, so maybe check your installed mods.

Thank you for letting me know! So if I uninstall it and wait a couple weeks, the problem might resolve itself.

Hopefully I don't lose my progress. I was trying to get the Pumpkin Princess. That would be a chore to have to go through that again.

I wonder if it was Higgins. I had passed him in workshop points, so I can see him doing anything - including corrupting my game files - in order to keep me from beating him!
