Does anything important happen?

I failed the quest as tool tip is very vague "Search Everywhere". When I asked Arlo he told me to search the Collapsed Wasteland. I went there and found nothing, and then my character collapsed as it was 3am and I auto failed the quest.

Yea I had something similar happen to me there was no note that I saw about it being a timed quest so I went and did one of my other quests that was almost finished figuring I'd just meet up with him in the morning so I didn't hit the 3am wall and poof you failed as i popped into the new day.

I did find him outside the gate and talked to him, this activated the quest. The tooltip said to "Search Everywhere". Arlo said to search the Collapsed Wasteland, I went and searched it, there was nothing. I then collapsed at 3am and auto failed the quest.

What is the solution to the quest and is it important?

I searched over there, nothing happened for me. Oh well.

I'm stuck at the eastern wall part after the first part at the western wall. Arlo doesn't offer any dialogue and I can't pick up the glittering object. I might just restart the day and see if that fixes it.

I found the issue. Talking to Arlo before picking up the clue makes it impossible to complete the quest.

The second object is behind a tree near the city walls. Close to Papa Bear's house.

I can confirm, this has happened to me too. I ended up loading a previous save and I was able to complete it

Doesn't Arlo telling you to "look in the collapsed wasteland" belong to a different quest? Sounds to me like something got mixed up with asking townspeople about the missing dog .

Struggled for a moment this evening, but figured it out. In short, there's a mushroom that is behind one of the bushes. Someone else was correct in saying it looks more like a Christmas Tree. After you grab that, you go east to another grove and just up against the wall is sparkles and you find mucus. After that, it finishes by going to the waterfalls and you kill 4 Pirahana creatures (don't recall their in-game name). That ends and completes the quest for now.

For me this mission started in the same day as the Ghost festival, so I failed as I was doing that.

Maybe some missions should not start on certain days so as to avoid that.
As my 1st play through I`m not required to know that I should not talk to someone so as to avoid that.

I failed because I was doing something else and didn't realise that there was a one day limit but I can go back that progress is easily catchable again just annoying.
