Need a little help. Factory vs. Conductive Floor.

Okay, I'm a little lost with this factory I just build. If I understand it correctly, you can put 20 machines in there and they will all be powered by the same engine, correct?
But what's the point in the Conductive Floors then?

Not sure if I should leave all my machines outside and build the floor or use the factory. Anyone know the up- and downsides?
I might be missing the point, but really confused right now, heh.

Once you've built and filled the factory there's no reason to use conductive floors and/or fire powered generators anymore, beside decorating.

Factory is quicker, more convenient and you can upgrade its speed with research notes. Downside is it takes an extra loading screen to access things. So for me I leave low priority machines like blender and electric furnace outside while putting the rest into the factory.
