Can you RE-date someone? (light spoilers inside)

Just started dating Emily or rather only just confessed and then read that Phyilis has a quest you cant get unless you marry her and it's something missing from the game world if you don't so my questions are these.....

1:- can i break up with Emily and re-date her later or will she remember and never date again ?

2:- for curiosity sake if you divorce an npc can you marry them again later after rebuilding relations with them ?

3:- who else has a world changing quest related to marriage, not ginger that's not game world changing it's just milestones.

4:- can you definately not help with her task unless you marry her ? there's no other way ?

5:- Is Xu the only npc that can ask YOU to date or are there others ?, not Merlin hers is more like research and ends straight after.

Question one and two - yes, you can re-date Emily again. Practically saying, you can re-marry and re-date the character after building up their relationship. When divorcing the spouse, you and them will return as friends.

Question three and five - there isn't really a world changing quest imo. And for question five, only Xu can come confessing to your character. Sadly he does not propose. Only ones who can are just Gust and Mint only if you give them the knot first in order to trigger the event, which kind of suck. I really hope they consider other characters come approach your character in the future.

Question four - If this is for Phyllis, you cannot help achieve Phyllis's dream unless you marry her.

1/2- so basically i just have to rebuild the hearts?, good good no biggy

3- it kinda is world changing if you are setting up a new clinic which leads into......

4- shame coz this effectively locks you out of content that shapes the game world unless you marry someone :(

5- hope this gets expanded upon then i've never seen a game that lets npcs ask YOU to date before it seemed like a novel idea.

technically you do not have to marry phyllis you just show her ring same thing goes for ginger

wow so stand them up at the altar....thats cold i'd atleast give them the wedding night.

I now have a different question though coz for the life of me i can figure it out, i gave phyllis the knot thing and we became soulmates but there's no option or item i can find to get from soulmate to lover in order to marry her, i try to give her another knot but she says 'i don't need a second one'.
How the hell do i get to second base? feel free to joke about that question lol.

Because you are soulmates with her, you will need to offer her an engagement ring you can purchase from the mysterious man who visits during the weekend. There, she will say she will need to think about it and you will need to finish the requirement event (by talking to Dr. Xu in order for her to accept your proposal.

You have to give Phyllis the ring and then do the quest but to marry her you have to give it to her a second time after the quest.

thnx, i got confused because the ring says 'can only be given to a lover' which is misleading when the knot says 'can only be given to friend' it suggests that lover is a relationship title guess not lol.

Just a warning, in case you have 14 soulmates, like me:
When you marry, it will knock every lover/soulmate down to three stars/non-lover (from max). You may have guessed but I wanted to mention, in case it helps. Good luck all!

Hi there :)

When I did this, there was no jealousy yet in game (they were all maxxed before that). I haven't lost the relationship progress because I never got married in a saved game: I kept all the lover benefits. Having no helper is a bit rough, so I was very happy when Ack got fixed ;)

I'd really like to experience the whole thing though, and will start fresh with new toon on day one of full release :)
