"Landrace" event
once again, we have an event - and not a clue what to do, where to go to participate, or how it works.

The village was gathered at the western cliffs, there was a stall selling costumes, but no information, no help screen, nothing. then everybody ran off and scattered.

Seriously, what's going on here?

Ride your horse up to the beginning of the track entrance, to the pole/flag nearest the gift exchange table, and a prompt should pop up to press "E" to start the race. You must be mounted to start the race.

I agree it is difficult to find the first time. Also, if you restart the day and get there really fast, you might have enough time to run 2 races in one day.

Haven't got to this race yet myself, but ggg has written that she managed to have 3 races in for each day, so 6 in total for both days.

ggg is probably riding a faster horse :steamhappy: mine is a rental named Pokey.

I'm with you. I saw a group of the townsfolk up in the corner so went to join them, but then all they did was run away together - so I assumed it was a foot race lol. I ended up getting bored and just went back home :P

I was wondering what this event was, not having a horse i walked the entire thing wondering what the point of it was and obviously not getting anything

Hi there eveyrone :)

Just to clarify, I haven't gotten to the 'landrace' yet in my game, but I was able to get in 3 competitions daily on both Fishing Day(s), (6 wins total for that event).

I can only hope that I'll do okay with racing :D

I hope the devs read this. The holiday events and how to participate in them needs to be made clearer.

After watching a youtube video I at least figured out how to start. Get to the Western Cliffs, and touch the starting flag. You do get a very brief (and not terribly helpful) help screen at that time.

It says to avoid the obstacles. So I was wondering: do I avoid the turnips and chilies?

Actually: NO. The turnips increase/refresh the sprint timer on your horse. The chilies, I think, give a speed boost. No idea what the balloons do.
Running at speed, I have not managed to avoid all the boxes .... not a clue what that does to your score/result. Maybe penalty time?
There is also one very confusing place shortly after crossing the pond on the bridge where you need to turn right, but it's almost impossible to see, the first time. Bouncing off invisible walls ...

l reloaded race day 1, managed one run and got the hat with some tokens left over. Next day I managed 2 runs and ended up with the red jacket as well. More stamina but less defense.

NB: you give gifts on this day and receive double the love! And everybody is in one place. So load up on gifts like Santa Claus and hand them out there and then.
