Maybe it could be a recipe in the worktable instead?
note: havent gotten far enough with a new play through to test it still works with the current patch - also don't try to go back further then the pit: if you fall youll die and need to restart the day.
Did this before closing it off. Also grab as many of the carbon bars as you can, save yourself the time
Point is i think the game needs a bit more spacing tbh, for instance you get a massive rush of quests at the beginning which are hard to keep up with and later it slows to a crawl.
All these things can and most likely will be worked on though it is early access after all :)
Yeah, that's the whole point. They are all over the desert. However, once you reach the desert, you get a quest shortly thereafter for a much better weapon, that you don't need materials to build.
You will also get an even better sword just a little after that when you reach the Desert Dungeon.
It should be possible to build the Enhanced Iron Sword comfortably before reaching the desert. Giving the player the option to craft animal skeletons with Animal Bones would solve this. They could make it some really huge number of bones, like 30 or something. You'd have to spend some time farming for them, but at least completing the Enhanced Iron Sword would be a more attainable goal.
Yeh that was kinda the point of my post, it's not really a question of the sword but a matter of the whole game in general from material gathering all the way to how quests are spaced.
The whole game is in need of rebalancing, even the machines you use are a little messed up (advanced skiver for one) but i have high hopes all these things will work out towards the end of development because the devs seem great so far :)
On the hammer you get from the quest i actually prefer the sword more tbh, the hammer feels too slow and clunky for me.
Also, the dieing from falling was super bugged - I didn't even know the game over screen existed until about the 45th run of the sewers when I didn't time a jump correctly.
To go back to the very beginning and get the 10 data discs from the large blue chest, you just have to wall jump up across from where the vertical elevator travels. (I will load a previous save and take screenshots.)
The 2nd furnace you get free from the Research Station is also insanely difficult to achieve by way of standard progression so I just spam data discs to Petra to get it quicker.
I don't have access to the desert yet...
