Enhanced Iron Sword
So we have a bit of a conundrum with the Enhanced Iron Sword right now.

The only way that you can reasonably create one, and have it be a benefit to the player, is if you get super lucky when you're killing Bandirats and can amass 5 of their Animal Bones before you build the bridge to the desert.

If you aren't lucky, you're stuck with the Lion's Claws until you reach the Desert.

When you reach the desert, you can easily find and amass the bones needed to make the sword, hurray!

Which you will be able to enjoy for all but 1 or 2 days till you get the quest from Remington which rewards you a better weapon. And there's an even better sword coming shortly after that.

Would it be possible to add a blueprint which allows you to convert Animal Bones into Animal Skeletons? The Blender would be good for that.

That would be odd to make skeletons come out of something that can Puree.
Maybe it could be a recipe in the worktable instead?

Yeah I figured the Blender would be good from a progression standpoint but it doesn't make sense. A Workstation is fine too.

its also posible to farm the bandirats at the end of the level (use the exit portal before the boss fight to exit and return, then go backwards through the end of the level... the rats have respawned and can be killed as many times as needed to get the skelitons you need).

note: havent gotten far enough with a new play through to test it still works with the current patch - also don't try to go back further then the pit: if you fall youll die and need to restart the day.

I doubt that the respawn trick will be available when the game is live. I noticed that same trick when I left the ruins with the Sentry bots and returned. :) Having the means to craft the Animal Skeletons would make a lot more sense when constant respawns no longer exist.

Did this before closing it off. Also grab as many of the carbon bars as you can, save yourself the time

I just got an animal skeleton from giving a gift to Dr. Xu. It was where he requested meat and mushrooms.

The animal skeletons are scattered all over the desert floor just like rocks and wood which would suggest the game thinks you should get the sword naturally after building the bridge, they are litterally everywhere once you get into the desert.
Point is i think the game needs a bit more spacing tbh, for instance you get a massive rush of quests at the beginning which are hard to keep up with and later it slows to a crawl.
All these things can and most likely will be worked on though it is early access after all :)

@Ravayen

Yeah, that's the whole point. They are all over the desert. However, once you reach the desert, you get a quest shortly thereafter for a much better weapon, that you don't need materials to build.

You will also get an even better sword just a little after that when you reach the Desert Dungeon.

It should be possible to build the Enhanced Iron Sword comfortably before reaching the desert. Giving the player the option to craft animal skeletons with Animal Bones would solve this. They could make it some really huge number of bones, like 30 or something. You'd have to spend some time farming for them, but at least completing the Enhanced Iron Sword would be a more attainable goal.

@Great White Flame

Yeh that was kinda the point of my post, it's not really a question of the sword but a matter of the whole game in general from material gathering all the way to how quests are spaced.

The whole game is in need of rebalancing, even the machines you use are a little messed up (advanced skiver for one) but i have high hopes all these things will work out towards the end of development because the devs seem great so far :)
On the hammer you get from the quest i actually prefer the sword more tbh, the hammer feels too slow and clunky for me.

I have amassed a decent quantity of animal skeletons from running 90% of the WOW Industries dungeon around 150+ times before I figured out that accupuncture does a total skill point wipe for the character. (I almost started from scratch because the Rat King was driving me insane...) When I did defeat him, I got hit down to 48HP and almost cried thinking I hadn't clicked quick enough. So much rage quitting!!
Also, the dieing from falling was super bugged - I didn't even know the game over screen existed until about the 45th run of the sewers when I didn't time a jump correctly.

To go back to the very beginning and get the 10 data discs from the large blue chest, you just have to wall jump up across from where the vertical elevator travels. (I will load a previous save and take screenshots.)

The 2nd furnace you get free from the Research Station is also insanely difficult to achieve by way of standard progression so I just spam data discs to Petra to get it quicker.

To wall climb, you must run toward the wall and jump. I use this technique to fast travel all over the map. It is possible in so many places.

I don't have access to the desert yet...
