Animals: a Suggestion

We all know that there are so many things to do in Portia. You can mine, chop trees, grow crops, raise animals and ride them... catch llamas and ride THEM... well I've been hoping for months that animals would be expanded on a little. I am glad to see that you can breed them when you have the correct housing facility but I still want to see certain species expanded upon a little more in a future update. Even if it's an optional DLC, I definitely wouldn't mind paying for it!

The idea I always wanted was being able to breed and raise horses, and that being able to be a lucrative way of earning Gols. You'd probably need multiple stables, or an expansion to the current one available so you can house more than 3. *EDIT: I thought you could breed animals already but I was wrong. Sorry about that. :) In which case I'd like breeding full stop to be added lol!* You have the basic horse model, so reskinning it wouldn't be as difficult as having to make a completely new one!

The inspiration while thinking of the idea was actually the Mo' Creatures mod for Minecraft. If anyone is familiar with that mod you have different tiers of horse. Tier 1 are the really common horses (in Portia they would sell for really cheap untrained, and still cheap but a bit more fully trained). These would be the ones that McDonald sells and rents out. So say the brown horse are tier 1, maybe a white horse can be added, a black horse, and a tan horse. Then to get tier 2 (which sell for slightly more untrained, and when fully trained sell for more than trained tier 1 horses) you need to breed certain combinations of tier 1. So say you have a tier 2 that is a black and white appaloosa. You would breed the black and white tier 1 and you have a chance of having a foal be born who is either a black tier 1, white tier 1, or a black and white tier 2. Perhaps a grey and white speckled tier 2 can be born from black and white too. Maybe tan and bay from the brown and tan one. Obviously you would need a cap so there aren't too many combinations but you want just enough that keeps it interesting and allows there to be some collectibility!

But each time the offspring has a chance of being the same as one of the parents, or the next tier up. And each time you reach the next tier the fully trained horse can sell for much more than before. And you can increase your selling capacity by breeding 2 of the same high tiered horses that are breeding capable and then training and selling their offspring. Obviously this would be a completely optional thing if people don't want to do it but I would love to be able to do it! (Also higher tiered horses could have higher stats and perhaps be easier to train, have higher loyalty, maybe are faster etc.)

Having maybe 5 tiers with tier 5 being the ultimate horses that can sell for loads would be grand. And would be a great sense of accomplishment when you get to them finally.

So tier 1 could be:

Single colours, such as bay, tan, black, white.

Tier 2 could be:

Mixed colours/patterns, like bay and tan, bay with black forelocks, black and white, grey speckled, tan with a white blanket.

Tier 3 could be:

Unusual patterns start cropping up. Like spots and stripes in bay colours, black, white, grey, combos, etc. (They'd look naturally formed though, so they wouldn't be completely symmetrical)

Tier 4 could be:

(Honestly running out of ideas at this point) But maybe a bit like Pinky being an odd colour, horses can start being born with unusual coat colours. Such as pink, lavendar, a light blue etc. And have patterns so they're not boring.

Tier 5 could be the rarest and hardest to get so they'd probably need to look the most impressive. So maybe tier 5 could have a slight model change. With a flowing mane, tail, etc. Look really elegant. I'd imagine them maybe being white with a black mane and tail but with excellent stats and subtle grey speckles on their coat. Then if you get two tier 5's and breed them you will be able to sell their offspring for a really good profit. After all, your life in portia is how you make it. So having more ways to make money can't be a bad thing!

That kind of went on a tangent but yeah. One thing I did want to add would be that the Civil Corps only own either tier 1 or maybe up to tier 2. Making it rarer to have the others XD

Also I did want to say that I wanted a few more coat colours for cows. Even if just brown, black, white, brown and white, and black and white, variants. Just to add variety. But I don't want as in-depth as the horses haha!

Just a question on breeding. You said " I am glad to see that you can breed them when you have the correct housing facility " We can breed animals now?? I dont see this option in the game. Could you tell me how to breed animals? If you have done it already...

Oh I actually haven't done it, but I've seen others with foals and calfs in their shed yards and stuff. I THINK it could be automatic?? So if you have compatible animals and enough space then you can have a baby born?

EDIT: Oh maybe I'm wrong. I just looked it up and I don't think you can actually? I do apologise for that. XD I didn;t realise you bought them as babies and they just grew up. Oh well in that case add breeding them to my idea lol!

LOL. No worries. I just felt excited when you said they added the animal breeding system and wondered how I could do that... Anyway, all is good!! :)

I honestly don't see the reason in breeding animals yourself since you can get them from McDonald who lives across the street. XD

Breeding them to sell 😂 Plus being able to have your own produced and not having to buy more than say 2 would be brilliant. Just adds another level to the game. And if we can have children why can't our livestock, space in the shed permitting haha?
